Tata Motors is preparing to introduce the highly anticipated Sierra SUV in India. The test prototype of the forthcoming Tata Sierra EV has been observed undergoing road tests in anticipation of its launch. Although it is heavily camouflaged, the prototype has disclosed several details, offering a new viewpoint.
Tata Motors is developing both the Sierra EV and the internal combustion engine (ICE) variant of the SUV. The Sierra EV is expected to debut first in India, positioned above the Tata Curvv EV and Harrier EV. Once launched, this electric SUV will serve as the flagship electric vehicle for the domestic automaker.
Tata Sierra EV: What to expect
The Tata Sierra EV test vehicle was extensively camouflaged, as evidenced by the spy photographs. Most design features were obscured; however, some styling aspects were discernible through the camouflage. The Sierra EV showcases a prominent front end, vertically aligned square LED headlights, a broad air intake featuring an ADAS sensor, flush door handles, and a rear bumper that accommodates the registration plate holder. Additionally, it will include wraparound LED taillights, a shark fin antenna, and an integrated spoiler. These design elements differ from those of the concept model presented at the Auto Expo 2025. Notably, the vehicle will also feature alloy wheels designed for improved aerodynamics.
Inside, the vehicle is set to include a large touchscreen infotainment system equipped with a variety of connectivity options, alongside a fully digital instrument cluster. The steering wheel will mirror the design found in other modern Tata vehicles, featuring a glossy finish and an illuminated brand logo at the center, complemented by touch-sensitive controls. Additional features will encompass a panoramic sunroof, a floating center console, a 360-degree surround view camera, ventilated front seats, and an ADAS suite.
Regarding the powertrain, the Tata Sierra is anticipated to offer a range of approximately 500 kilometers on a single charge. In contrast, the internal combustion engine (ICE) variant of the Tata Sierra will be available with a 2.0-liter Kryotec engine and a 1.5-liter TGDi turbocharged petrol engine, with options for both manual and automatic transmissions.
