Tata Harrier EV vs Tata Harrier: Key Upgrades That Make the EV More Premium

1 day ago | 5 Views

The Tata Harrier EV is poised to be available for purchase shortly. This electric vehicle was initially unveiled in its production version at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Auto Expo and subsequently demonstrated to the media and dealer principals during the company's EV Day event. Upon its release, the Tata Harrier EV will be among the ten electric vehicles that Tata Motors intends to launch by the conclusion of 2025.

Although the Tata Harrier EV bears a striking resemblance to its internal combustion engine counterpart, there are notable distinctions between the two variants. While Tata has yet to disclose all specifications of the Harrier EV, several key differences that set it apart from the ICE model have been identified.

Tata Harrier EV vs Tata Harrier: AWD vs FWD

The Tata Harrier has faced criticism for being a front-wheel-drive SUV; however, Tata Motors intends to address this issue with the introduction of the Harrier EV. This model will mark the carmaker's inaugural electric vehicle equipped with an all-wheel-drive (AWD) system, making it the first contemporary product from Tata to feature such a configuration.

Tata Motors refers to its AWD system as QWD (Quad Wheel Drive). While it remains uncertain whether the company will employ four motors—one for each wheel—or two motors—one for each axle—it has been confirmed that the Harrier EV will indeed incorporate an AWD system.

Tata Harrier EV vs Tata Harrier: More power and better hardware

In addition to the all-wheel-drive configuration, Tata has announced that the Tata Harrier EV will generate approximately 520 Nm of torque. In terms of its hardware, the vehicle will feature a multi-link rear suspension system. For comparison, the diesel variant of the Tata Harrier delivers 350 Nm of torque and is equipped with a torsion beam suspension at the rear. The increased torque in the Harrier EV is expected to enhance its acceleration compared to the diesel version, while the multi-link suspension will contribute to an improved ride quality over the internal combustion engine model.

Tata Harrier EV vs Tata Harrier: Enhanced features list

The Tata Harrier EV is set to be the premier electric vehicle from the Indian automotive manufacturer, anticipated to be equipped with the latest advancements in technology. Although specific details remain limited, it has been confirmed that the Harrier EV will feature a function known as ‘Summon Mode.’ This capability enables the vehicle to reverse its path remotely over a certain distance. Unlike many comparable features, the ‘Summon Mode’ will permit the Harrier EV to retrace its movements even on winding roads.

Furthermore, the Harrier EV will retain a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, and ventilated front seats. It will also include additional high-end features such as dual-zone climate control and a powered tailgate.
