Tata Motors Coupe SUV, the Curvv, has achieved a remarkable milestone by setting a record for the ‘Longest Distance Pulled by a Petrol SUV with a Passenger Aircraft’ in the ‘India Book of Records.’ The Tata Curvv accomplished this feat by towing a Boeing 737 aircraft, which weighs 48 tons, over a distance of 100 meters. Tata Motors announced this achievement across various social media platforms, highlighting the event with the caption, ‘Unleashing dominance! The CURVV pulls a massive Boeing 737 aircraft weighing 48,000 kg, shattering records!’
This record-setting event took place at the AIESL Hangar in Thiruvananthapuram, demonstrating the strength of the ATLAS architecture and the Hyperion GDi powertrain. This engine, a 1.2-litre unit from Tata, generates 123.2 bhp at 5,000 rpm and delivers 225 Nm of torque between 1,750 and 3,000 rpm. The test was conducted using a vehicle equipped with a 6-speed manual gearbox, and the tyre pressures recorded in the video were 32 PSI for the front tyres and 30 PSI for the rear tyres.
Tata Curvv ICE: Powertrain and performance
In addition to the Hyperion engine, Tata Motors provides two alternative engine choices for the Curvv. The vehicle features the Nexon's 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which generates 119 bhp and 170 Nm of peak torque. Both petrol variants are available with a six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed DCA automatic transmission.
The diesel variant is powered by a new 1.5-litre Kyrotec engine, delivering 117 horsepower and 260 Nm of maximum torque. This engine is also paired with a six-speed manual and a seven-speed DCA, marking it as the first in its category to offer an automatic transmission with a diesel engine. The DCA gearbox is equipped with paddle shifters and a Multi-mode Regen feature.
Tata Curvv: Safety features
The Tata Curvv is fitted with six airbags, an anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), and an electronic stability program. It includes ISOFIX anchor points in the rear and is equipped with three-point seatbelts. Other safety enhancements comprise cruise control, Hill Hold Control, Hill Descent Control, a 360-degree camera system, and a blind spot monitoring system. Furthermore, the Tata Curvv will incorporate Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), featuring a total of 20 functionalities.
