Sunroof to ADAS: Features Mahindra BE 6 base variant misses out

2 months ago | 5 Views

The Mahindra BE 6 electric SUV stands out as one of the most intriguing new models introduced in India in 2024. Its distinctive design, impressive performance capabilities, and extensive array of features render the BE 6 a compelling option for prospective electric vehicle buyers. Launched in November at an introductory price of ₹18.90 lakh (ex-showroom), the bookings for this electric vehicle are set to commence next month, with deliveries anticipated to start in February 2025.

The Mahindra BE 6 has attracted significant interest from potential customers, not only due to its aesthetic appeal but also because of the comprehensive features it offers. Even the entry-level variant is well-equipped when compared to other electric vehicles in India priced below ₹20 lakh. Mahindra has incorporated several unique features in both the BE 6 and the XEV 9e. However, it is worth noting that the base variant of the BE 6 lacks certain key features available in the higher-end variants.

Mahindra BE 6: Key missing features in base variant

The BE 6 electric SUV is nearly as well-equipped as the XEV 9e. It encompasses a range of modern features, including advanced driver assistance systems and intelligent energy management, catering to contemporary automotive demands. However, those opting for the entry-level BE 6 will need to forgo certain amenities.

In terms of comfort, the BE 6 lacks at least five notable features. The most significant omission is the panoramic sunroof. While both the BE 6 and XEV 9e feature a fixed glass roof that provides ambient light patterns—a first in this vehicle segment—the base variant of the BE 6 does not include this option.

Additionally, the BE 6 does not come equipped with a rear sunshade, a cooled glovebox, or physical buttons for climate control and other functions. Although the vehicle boasts a 16-speaker premium Harman Kardon audio system with Dolby Atmos, this feature is also absent in the base model.

Regarding safety features, the entry-level BE 6 electric SUV lacks several expected elements. Notable exclusions include the level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), the augmented reality Head-up Display (HuD), and the Auto Park Assist feature accessible via the keys. Furthermore, the base variant is equipped with six airbags, as opposed to the seven available in higher trims, and it does not include a 360-degree camera.

Other significant features missing from this variant of the BE 6 include the absence of a dual-tone exterior design, a third screen for the front passenger, and a full-sized spare wheel.
