Steelbird Hi-Tech India Ltd., a major player in India's two-wheeler safety gear market, announced it sold 87 lakh helmets in FY 2024-25, up from 80 lakh the year before. The company also saw a revenue boost of 10.07%, reaching ₹787 crore. They aim to sell over one crore helmets in FY 2025-26. This growth is largely due to their ongoing investments in production facilities, including robotic systems for visors, automated painting, and expanded assembly lines at their Baddi plant, which now produces nearly 50,000 helmets daily.

Additionally, they plan to establish a new facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, to better serve southern India and meet the needs of OEMs and the aftermarket. Managing Director Rajeev Kapur highlighted the brand's commitment to road safety, citing alarming road accident statistics in India, and emphasized Steelbird's goal of providing affordable, safe helmets. They also introduced new helmet models in FY25 featuring Bluetooth, improved ventilation, and lighter designs.

Expanding Product Range and Store Presence

In addition to helmets, Steelbird has rolled out a broader range of riding gear like gloves, goggles, and rain jackets, marking a shift towards a more lifestyle-focused brand. They're also expanding their retail presence with over 200 exclusive Rider Shops across India, with plans to ramp that up to 1,000 standalone locations in the coming years. Looking ahead, Steelbird is targeting a revenue of ₹900 crore for FY 2025-26 and has ambitious goals to produce 1.5 crore helmets annually, aiming for a turnover of ₹1,300 crore by FY 2026-27. While these numbers are impressive, the company emphasizes that its main goal remains to improve rider safety on Indian roads.
