Vayve has introduced the Eva, India's inaugural solar-powered vehicle, with a starting price of ₹3.25 lakh (introductory ex-showroom) at the Auto Expo 2025, taking place at Pragati Maidan in Delhi. The Eva is available in three variants: Nova, Stella, and Vega. For ₹3.25 lakh (ex-showroom), the vehicle is provided with the battery on a subscription basis, while outright ownership of the battery will cost ₹3.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
This pricing for the solar-powered vehicle is available exclusively to the first 25,000 customers. Vayve Mobility initially presented the solar-powered Eva at the Auto Expo 2023. The company asserts that the Vayve Eva will serve as a sustainable and economical option for urban transportation, offering a range of 250 km on a single charge, with the potential for an additional 3,000 km annually through solar energy.
In a prior statement, Nilesh Bajaj, co-founder and CEO of Vayve Mobility, discussed the new Eva, stating, “Eva is not merely a car; it represents a new category of urban vehicles tailored for the contemporary family. It integrates sustainability with innovation, providing a forward-thinking yet attainable commuting solution.”
Vayve Eva: Range & Running Cost
Vayve Mobility asserts that the majority of vehicle owners typically have a daily commute of under 35 kilometres, with an average of fewer than 1.5 passengers per vehicle. The company contends that the Eva electric vehicle meets the needs of urban mobility users. Vayve Mobility reports an operational cost of merely ₹0.5 paise per kilometre, positioning the Eva as a more economical option compared to many electric vehicles currently available. The start-up is marketing the Eva, which is solar-powered, as a supplementary vehicle for households, making it suitable for city travel. Importantly, the Eva is set to compete with the MG Comet EV in terms of functionality.
Vayve Eva Features
The Vayve Eva will feature a high-voltage powertrain that allows for rapid charging, providing an additional range of 50 kilometres in just five minutes. This model will also support smartphone integration, over-the-air (OTA) updates, remote monitoring, and vehicle diagnostics. Furthermore, it is designed to be lightweight, which contributes to lower operating costs and a diminished carbon footprint.
