Toyota has unveiled the initial teaser for the 2025 Camry, set to debut in the Indian market on December 11. The ninth-generation Toyota Camry is now available globally and will be produced locally in India to improve its competitive pricing. This marks the hybrid sedan's 11-year journey in India, following its initial introduction in the country.
The teaser shared on social media by Toyota states, “Elegance at every glance. Unveiling soon.” The teaser image showcases the sedan's LED Daytime Running Lamps. Presently, the Camry is priced at ₹46.17 lakh ex-showroom, and the upcoming model is expected to be priced higher.
Ninth-generation Toyota Camry: What's new
The forthcoming Toyota Camry signifies a notable transformation from the existing model in India. It showcases a wider front grille and more angular headlights, setting it apart from its predecessor, while the rear design is influenced by Lexus aesthetics. The sleek headlights are fitted with integrated LED daytime running lights, and the prominent radiator grille enhances its striking visual appeal.
Beyond the exterior modifications, the interior has also received updates. The cabin now features a dual-digital display, and the center console has seen minor adjustments. Key attributes of the sedan include individual climate control for rear passengers, seat-back screens, Type-C USB charging ports, window curtains, and a JBL audio system. The spacious interior, augmented by the vehicle's extended wheelbase, guarantees a comfortable experience for all passengers.
The new generation Toyota Camry sedan is powered by a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine that generates a maximum output of 222 bhp. This power is delivered to the front wheels via an eCVT transmission. While the international version of the Toyota Camry sedan is equipped with a front-wheel-drive system, it is unlikely that this configuration will be offered in the Indian market. The current iteration of the Toyota Camry available in India achieves a fuel efficiency of 19 kmpl, which is expected to improve with the new generation.
Upon its launch, the new generation Toyota Camry sedan will contend with competitors such as the latest Skoda Superb and the BYD Seal EV, as well as certain SUV models.
