Skoda Auto India is joining the trend of price increases among major car manufacturers in the country. Starting January 1, 2025, the prices for the Skoda Slavia, Kushaq, and Kodiaq will go up by 3%.
The company explained that this decision comes in response to rising input and operational costs. After the hike, the Skoda Slavia will start at ₹10.80 lakh, while the Kushaq and Kodiaq will begin at ₹11.12 lakh and ₹41.20 lakh, respectively. However, the Skoda Kylaq will not see any price changes until it hits the 33,333 booking milestone.
Skoda Kylaq: Features and Pricing
The Skoda Kylaq is the budget-friendly option from Skoda Auto India, starting at ₹7.89 lakh, ex-showroom. If you’re looking for the top-tier Kylaq Prestige trim, it’ll set you back ₹14.40 lakh. With this model, Skoda is diving into the crowded sub-compact SUV market, going head-to-head with competitors like the Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, and Maruti Suzuki Brezza. Since its launch on December 2, the Kylaq has already racked up over 10,000 bookings.
In terms of size, the Skoda Kylaq measures 3,995 mm long, 1,783 mm wide, and 1,619 mm high. This makes it slightly longer by 5 mm, narrower by 38 mm, and shorter by 28 mm compared to the Mahindra XUV 3XO, which comes in at 3,990 mm in length, 1,821 mm in width, and 1,647 mm in height.
The Kylaq is making waves as Skoda's first vehicle in India to showcase its new Modern-Solid design language. It comes with split headlamps, a boxy shape, and short overhangs. The iconic butterfly grille is still there but with a fresh twist. Other cool design features include LED headlamps, LED daytime running lights, sleek cuts inspired by Bohemian Crystal, 17-inch alloy wheels, and stylish black roof rails.
Skoda Kylaq: Highlights
The Skoda Kylaq is equipped with a digital instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system that offers wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. However, these cool features are only found in the top two trim levels. The mid-range Signature variant comes with a five-inch touchscreen and a semi-digital instrument panel, while the base Classic variant has an analog instrument cluster and skips the infotainment system altogether.
In addition, the Kylaq Prestige boasts six-way power-adjustable front seats with ventilation. Each variant has its own unique cabin upholstery, available in either single or dual tones. The Classic, Signature, and Signature+ models come with fabric upholstery as standard, while the Prestige features all-leatherette upholstery and includes an electric sunroof.
Skoda Kylaq: Powertrain
The Skoda Kylaq is driven by a 1.0-liter, three-cylinder turbo petrol engine that delivers 113 bhp and 178 Nm of peak torque. It pairs with a six-speed manual transmission, and there's also an option for a six-speed torque converter automatic.
