The Skoda Kylaq and Mahindra XUV 3XO are the newest additions to the sub-compact SUV segment. The Skoda Kylaq is priced between ₹7.89 lakh and ₹14.40 lakh, ex-showroom, while the Mahindra XUV 3XO starts at ₹7.79 lakh and reaches a maximum price of ₹15.49 lakh.In terms of dimensions, the Skoda Kylaq measures 3,995 mm in length, 1,783 mm in width, and 1,619 mm in height, making it marginally longer, narrower, and shorter compared to the Mahindra XUV 3XO. The wheelbase of the Kylaq is 2,566 mm, which is 34 mm shorter than that of the XUV 3XO; however, it provides a more spacious boot capacity of 446 litres, surpassing the XUV 3XO's 364 litres by 82 litres.
The design of the Skoda Kylaq showcases Skoda’s Modern-Solid aesthetic, characterized by split headlamps, a boxy silhouette, and compact overhangs. Conversely, the Mahindra XUV 3XO maintains the silhouette of the XUV300 while incorporating a blacked-out grille, C-shaped LED daytime running lights, updated headlights, a redesigned bumper, and a more contoured bonnet. Both vehicles are equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels.The Skoda Kylaq is equipped with a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that generates 113 bhp and 178 Nm of torque, available with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. In contrast, the XUV 3XO provides both petrol and diesel engine options: a 1.2-litre petrol variant producing either 110 bhp/200 Nm or 128 bhp/230 Nm, and a 1.2-litre diesel engine that delivers 115 bhp/300 Nm. Both models offer six-speed manual and automatic transmission choices.
The Kylaq is distinguished by its digital instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which is compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. On the other hand, the XUV 3XO boasts a free-standing 26.03 cm HD touchscreen infotainment system along with a fully digital instrument cluster of the same size. The AX series is equipped with the AdrenoX operating system.
Additional notable features of the Kylaq include six-way power-adjustable front seats with ventilation, automatic climate control, and an electric sunroof. Conversely, the XUV 3XO offers a panoramic sunroof, a wireless smartphone charger, automatic climate control, and various other amenities.Both the Kylaq and the XUV 3XO are positioned in the market to compete with models such as the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Nissan Magnite, and Renault Kiger.
