The Skoda Kylaq represents one of the newest additions to the sub-compact SUV market. This segment has experienced significant growth in the country, offering a variety of choices that include the Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger at one end, and the Kia Seltos and Tata Nexon at the other. As Skoda's inaugural sub-4 meter SUV, the Kylaq is competitively priced to attract attention in the Indian automotive landscape.

The starting price for the Kylaq is set at ₹7.89 lakh, ex-showroom, which is only ₹10,000 more than the Mahindra XUV 3OO, one of the most economical options available in this category. Notably, the Kylaq provides substantial value for its price. The fully equipped top-tier Prestige variant is available at ₹13.35 lakh, ex-showroom, for the manual transmission version, and reaches ₹14.40 lakh for the automatic transmission variant. The second-highest Signature Plus trim is regarded as the most cost-effective choice within the segment. Here are the reasons we believe this to be the case.

Skoda Kylaq Signature Plus: Features

The Signature Plus variant, positioned just below the top model, is equipped with a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a rear center armrest, a digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, and power-folding side mirrors. Additional features include cruise control, decorative dashboard inserts, paddle shifters, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel adorned with chrome accents. It is also fitted with 16-inch alloy wheels, a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), a rear defogger, chrome embellishments, and Type-C USB charging ports within the cabin.

The starting price for the Signature Plus model is ₹11.40 lakh for the manual transmission variant, while the automatic transmission variant is priced at ₹12.40 lakh ex-showroom. This model is ₹1.80 lakh more expensive than the Signature variant. However, the additional cost brings numerous enhancements, including a larger touchscreen infotainment system, an aesthetically improved cabin, and more features. In comparison to the top-spec model, the Signature Plus is ₹1.95 lakh less expensive. Despite this price difference, the second-tier model lacks certain features found in the top variant, such as 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, ventilated front seats, and an electric sunroof.

Skoda Kylaq Signature Plus: Specifications  

All variants of the Kylaq are powered by a 1.0-litre three-cylinder TSI petrol engine, which is also utilized in other vehicles from the India 2.0 project, including the Skoda Kushaq. However, unlike the Kushaq and the Slavia, the Kylaq does not offer the 1.5-liter TSI petrol engine. The 1.0-litre petrol engine in the Kylaq generates a peak power of 114 bhp and a maximum torque of 178 Nm.

The Signature Plus variant of the Kylaq is available with both manual and automatic transmission options. The manual versions feature a six-speed manual transmission, while the automatic variant is equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission, which also includes paddle shifters.
