Porsche is gearing up to enhance the digital experience in its new models with upgraded infotainment systems, featuring a fresh digital assistant. The 911, Taycan, Panamera, and Cayenne will all see major tech upgrades designed to improve usability and connectivity.
These enhancements include a revamped PCM, broader app access, Alexa integration, and better audio technology, all aimed at creating a more connected and user-friendly in-car experience. However, the availability of apps may differ by country. The company also noted that the Amazon Alexa feature is accessible in the United States, United Kingdom, Ireland, Austria, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and Canada.
Enhanced infotainment and a revamped app center
The revamped Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system comes with upgraded hardware that enhances responsiveness and user experience. Thanks to its improved computing power, users can now easily access a broader array of third-party apps right from the PCM interface. Plus, Porsche Connect will be available as a standard feature for ten years, providing ongoing access to digital services.
One of the standout features is the Porsche App Center, which offers a variety of apps similar to those on smartphones. After its debut with the all-electric Macan, the App Center is now being rolled out to other Porsche models. Depending on the region, it will include apps for music, video streaming, podcasts, news, weather, gaming, and smart home connectivity.
Porsche's digital ecosystem featuring Amazon Alexa
Porsche is adding Amazon Alexa to its lineup as an option alongside the current Porsche Voice Pilot assistant. With Alexa, users can manage smart home gadgets like garage doors and lights, handle playlists, get weather updates, make to-do lists, and use various third-party apps. You can activate the assistant using a voice command or by pressing a specific button in the PCM interface.
Incorporating Dolby Atmos audio technology
Porsche is integrating Dolby Atmos technology into its Bose and Burmester sound systems, taking the in-car audio experience to the next level. This tech creates a spatial sound environment, allowing for a more immersive listening experience. You’ll also find compatible music apps in the Porsche App Center.
