Delhi Police has issued several traffic advisories in preparation for the anticipated large crowds on New Year's Eve, aimed at regulating traffic flow and ensuring public safety. Traffic restrictions will be enforced starting at 8 PM on Tuesday and will remain in effect until the conclusion of the celebrations. These restrictions will affect both private and public transportation, as indicated by Dhal Singh, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic).

The DCP emphasized that stringent measures will be taken against infractions such as driving under the influence, speeding, stunt biking, reckless driving, and other hazardous driving behaviors. An official statement noted that particular attention will be given to areas like Connaught Place and other popular venues for celebration. Additional focal points will include marketplaces, shopping centers, and well-known gathering spots such as Connaught Place and Hauz Khas. A senior official confirmed that a significant number of traffic personnel will be deployed throughout the city.

Traffic Restrictions Around Connaught Place

Access to Connaught Place will be limited beyond specific points, including the Mandi House roundabout, the Bengali market roundabout, the northern foot of Ranjit Singh Flyover, the Minto Road-Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Marg intersection, the RK Ashram Marg-Chitragupta Marg intersection, the Gole Market roundabout, the GPO roundabout, and Kasturba Gandhi Road.

Only vehicles possessing valid passes will be allowed entry into the Connaught Place circles.

Parking Arrangements

Motorists are advised to utilize designated parking areas such as Gole Dak Khana, Patel Chowk on Rakab Ganj Road behind AIR, Mandi House on Copernicus Marg up to Baroda House, Minto Road on Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Marg and Press Road area, Panchkuian Road on RK Ashram Marg, KG Marg-Ferozshah Road intersection on Copernicus Lane, and Windsor Place.

Parking within Connaught Place will be limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Vehicles parked without authorization will be subject to towing and penalties.

Arrangements Around India Gate

Comprehensive measures have been implemented to manage both pedestrian and vehicular traffic in the vicinity of India Gate. In the event of significant foot traffic, access for vehicles to C-Hexagon may be restricted, necessitating diversions to alternative routes such as Q-Point, the Sunheri Masjid roundabout, Rajpath Rafi Marg, the Windsor Place roundabout, Rajindra Prasad Road-Janpath, KG Marg-Ferozeshah Road, and the Mandi House roundabout.

Visitors are encouraged to utilize public transportation due to the limited availability of parking spaces near India Gate.

Advisory for Delhi Zoo and Mathura Road

In anticipation of large crowds at the Delhi Zoo, which could result in traffic congestion on Mathura Road, drivers are recommended to avoid using Bhairon Road and Mathura Road between Hazrat Nizamuddin and Pragati Maidan.
