Ola Electric is poised to unveil a significant expansion of its sales outlets throughout India next week. The electric vehicle manufacturer plans to inaugurate approximately 3,200 new showrooms on Christmas Day (December 25), thereby increasing its total number of EV outlets to 4,000. Bhavish Aggarwal, the CEO and Founder of Ola Electric, indicated that most of these new locations will provide sales and service facilities to better serve customers. Currently, Ola Electric holds the position of the largest electric two-wheeler manufacturer in India.
Previously, Ola Electric had announced that the expansion of its outlet network would occur today (December 20). In an earlier statement, Aggarwal remarked, “All stores opening together on 20th Dec across India. Probably the biggest single day store opening ever." However, the event has now been postponed until next Tuesday, aligning with the Christmas celebrations. Aggarwal further stated, “Inaugurating record-breaking 4,000 Ola Electric stores on Christmas 25th December. Savings Wala Scooter will now be accessible to every city, town and tehsil."
Ola Electric's upcoming EV showroom locations
Ola Electric is set to inaugurate new showrooms in various metropolitan areas as well as in Tier-2 and Tier-3 towns. In response to criticism regarding its inadequate after-sales and service network, the company has committed to establishing service facilities alongside the new outlets from the outset. Ola stated, “By utilizing its direct-to-consumer (D2C) model, Ola is making electric vehicle ownership attainable for every household, dismantling barriers to adoption and providing relief from escalating petrol prices and the high costs associated with internal combustion engine vehicles.”
Recently, Ola Electric introduced two additional electric scooter models, the Gig and S1 Z, expanding its existing lineup that includes the S1 Air, S1 X, and S1 Pro. Furthermore, the company is preparing to launch its first electric motorcycle, the Roadster, which is anticipated to be available on the market early next year.
The expansion of Ola Electric is particularly noteworthy in light of the ongoing scrutiny regarding its after-sales and service performance. The company is currently under investigation by the Central Consumer Protection Agency (CCPA) for alleged violations of consumer rights, misleading advertising, and unfair trade practices. Additionally, the Bureau of India Standards (BIS) is examining complaints from over 10,600 customers against the EV manufacturer.
