Mercedes-Benz's performance car division AMG seems to be developing a new sleek super sedan that will compete with the Audi e-tron GT and Porsche Taycan. Mercedes-AMG has teased the new vehicle, which resembles a redesigned four-door GT. The teaser image suggests that the model will be unveiled soon, and it will feature a stylish new design along with a high-tech electric powertrain.

The German luxury automobile manufacturer has been tight-lipped about the forthcoming electric performance vehicle but has hinted that something significant will arrive in June 2025. The announcement was paired with a dark teaser image suggesting a stylish sports car with a prominent nose section and striking headlights. It also features a sloped windscreen that seamlessly transitions into a roofline extending almost to the rear of the vehicle. The robust rear haunches and a large greenhouse panel can also be discerned from the teaser image. Shortly after the teaser was released, this sparked speculation among automotive enthusiasts regarding the potential introduction of a Mercedes-AMG GT 4-door EV.

The sports EV is expected to begin production later this year, and Mercedes-AMG has already confirmed that it will be based on a platform, which the company refers to as the first dedicated electric vehicle architecture designed by the brand. Named AMG Electric Architecture or AMG. EA, the platform claims to make the forthcoming electric performance car a technological innovator, poised to introduce several new advancements.

Details related to design, features, technology, and specifications of the upcoming vehicle remain scarce, but the anticipated challenger to the Porsche Taycan is expected to be equipped with a high-performance battery pack and axial-flux motors. The EV was previously previewed by the Vision AMG concept. It could potentially offer around 1,000 bhp of peak power on demand.
