1 Delhi Police has taken action against 4,583 motorists for various traffic violations. This includes 558 individuals charged with drunk driving on New Year's Eve, reflecting a 34 percent increase in traffic rule breaches compared to the previous year. According to data released by the Delhi Police, the number of motorists prosecuted for drunken driving rose significantly from 416 in 2023 to 558 this year, with previous years showing 318 in 2022, 25 in 2021, 19 in 2020, and 299 in 2019. Notably, there were no fatal accidents reported during the New Year's festivities. Other infractions included 205 motorists charged with driving on the wrong side, 35 for triple riding, and 648 for not wearing helmets. Additionally, the police issued 1,698 challans for improper parking and 106 for the use of tinted windows.

2 Mumbai Police has imposed fines on 17,800 motorists for violating traffic regulations during the New Year celebrations in the city. Through this enforcement, the Mumbai Traffic Police collected ₹89,19,750 in fines via e-challan from those who breached traffic rules. Offenses included drunk driving, obstructing traffic flow, riding motorcycles without helmets, running red lights, and entering one-way streets. Furthermore, motorists faced penalties for speeding, driving cars without seat belts, and using mobile phones while operating their vehicles.
