New Tesla Model Y Seen Next to Older Generation Model in India

Tesla has initiated testing of the 2025 Model Y on Indian roads. The electric vehicle was seen covered in camouflage and was spotted alongside the previous iteration of the Model Y. Earlier sightings included the vehicle on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. Various reports indicate that Tesla intends to open its first dealership in Mumbai, initially selling fully imported electric vehicles in India. Furthermore, Tesla has started the recruitment process in India, signaling that operations will commence shortly.
The company is expected to launch the Model Y in the Indian market first, a strategic choice considering the current global demand for SUVs. The Model Y's higher ground clearance is particularly advantageous for Indian roads, which often present challenging conditions. Previously, Tesla tested the earlier version of the Model 3, which faced several issues related to ground clearance.
The latest Model Y was observed alongside the previous generation of the same model, which was also undergoing testing in India (Twitter/@ishanagarwal24). In the global market, the Model Y is available in a single configuration that includes an all-wheel drive system and a long-range battery pack. This setup offers an EPA-rated range of 526 kilometers and a top speed of 200 kilometers per hour, with the ability to accelerate from 0 to 96 kilometers per hour in just 4.6 seconds. This electric SUV comes in six color options: Stealth Grey, Pearl White, Deep Blue Metallic, Diamond Black, Ultra Red, and Quicksilver. For the interior, buyers can choose between a Black and White color scheme or an all-black design. The Model Y has recently received a major redesign, featuring new lighting elements at both the front and rear. The interior enhancements include updated ambient lighting, ventilated seats, a new touchscreen interface, and a soft-touch finish. Furthermore, the suspension has been recalibrated, and the steering has been improved for better responsiveness.
