Tesla has commenced testing the new Model Y on Indian roads, with the vehicle once again seen covered in camouflage. At this point, the timeline for the Model Y's launch remains unclear. However, it appears that Tesla is gearing up for its operations in India, as evidenced by the company's recruitment efforts for various roles and the anticipated opening of its first dealership in Bangalore.

In the international market, the Model Y is offered in a single configuration, featuring an all-wheel drive system and a long-range battery pack. This setup delivers an EPA-rated range of 526 kilometers and a maximum speed of 200 kilometers per hour, with the ability to accelerate from 0 to 96 kilometers per hour in just 4.6 seconds.

Key features of the Model Y include power-adjustable seats with heating and ventilation, a premium sound system comprising 15 speakers and a subwoofer, a hands-free trunk, and eight cameras. It is also equipped with advanced safety technologies such as Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Warning, Blind-Spot Collision Warning, and Lane Departure Avoidance.

The electric SUV is available in six color choices: Stealth Grey, Pearl White, Deep Blue Metallic, Diamond Black, Ultra Red, and Quicksilver. For the interior, customers can select either a Black and White color scheme or an all-black design.

Recently, the Model Y has received a significant redesign, featuring new lighting elements at both the front and rear. The interior enhancements include improved ambient lighting, ventilated seats, a new touchscreen interface, and a soft-touch finish. Furthermore, the suspension has been retuned for enhanced performance, and the steering has been made more responsive. The Model Y now also incorporates acoustic glass to minimize road noise.

The Model Y is expected to be Tesla's first offering in India, a reasonable expectation given that SUVs are currently the most popular vehicle type globally. The Model Y's higher ground clearance is particularly advantageous for vehicles intended for the Indian market, considering the country's road conditions.
