New SUV Underway at Maruti Suzuki: Here's What We Know
7 days ago | 5 Views
Maruti Suzuki has announced that they are developing a new SUV for the Indian market. They have yet to disclose the name or its specific place in the lineup. Nevertheless, based on the spy images, it seems the company is producing a 7-seater variant of the Grand Vitara. At this moment, the company has not provided any details regarding the launch timeline for the new SUV.
The upcoming SUV will be situated between the Grand Vitara and the Invicto. The company has gradually been advancing towards the premium segment. This marks not the first instance in which Suzuki will create a 7-seater vehicle; the brand already offers several models in the worldwide market. Given the demand for 7-seater SUVs, it makes sense why Maruti Suzuki opted for this direction.
As anticipated, the new SUV will only be available through Nexa dealerships, which is Maruti Suzuki's premium dealership line. Once it is launched, the new SUV will compete against Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus, and Kia Carens.

Powering the upcoming 7-seater SUV will be the identical range of 1. 5-litre petrol engines currently utilized in the Grand Vitara. Thus, there will be a 1. 5-litre, four-cylinder mild hybrid petrol engine that is rated at 1. 2 bhp and 137 Nm. It will be paired with a 5-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Conversely, the strong hybrid engine is a three-cylinder variant that is rated at 113 bhp and 122 Nm. It is exclusively paired with an eCVT automatic transmission. At this point, it remains unclear whether an all-wheel drive option and a CNG powertrain will be available.
The spy photos have indicated that the new SUV will feature a design that differs from the Grand Vitara. There will be a redesigned rear-end with a new set of LED tail lights, a rear bumper, and a revised overhang. Furthermore, the wheelbase may be extended to create more cabin space, and there is also a chance that the rear doors will be elongated to facilitate easier entry and exit.
Currently, the interior of the SUV has not been captured in any images. Nevertheless, we can anticipate a slightly revised dashboard in comparison to the Grand Vitara. There might also be new color options for the cabin and dashboard.
