Three months following its global launch and nearly two months after its introduction in India, KTM has officially revealed the specifications for the new-generation 390 Adventure series. The 2025 KTM 390 Adventure lineup will be offered worldwide in three variants: X, S, and R. The 390 Adventure X is designed with a focus on-road performance, while the 390 Adventure S enhances off-road capabilities. The new 390 Adventure R is tailored for serious off-road enthusiasts. In India, the 390 ADV X and S variants will be available, whereas the R variant will be exclusive to international markets.
KTM 390 Adventure Design
The updated KTM 390 Adventure features a dual-projector headlamp assembly with LED daytime running lights, a newly designed beak-style front mudguard, and a sharply contoured front cowl. According to KTM, the overall aesthetic and graphics draw inspiration from the brand’s Dakar rally motorcycles, showcasing a more top-heavy design. The 390 Adventure R is fitted with 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wire-spoked wheels, equipped with tubeless Mitas Enduro Trail dual-purpose tyres, while the 390 Adventure X is outfitted with 19-inch front and 17-inch rear cast alloy wheels that are more suited for road use. The 390 Adventure S, intended for the Indian market, was displayed at India Bike Week 2024, featuring 21-inch front and 17-inch rear spoked wheels fitted with Apollo Tramplr tyres.
The 2025 KTM 390 Adventure R gets the new 399 cc motor with a completely new steel trellis frame. The motor produces 44 bhp and 39 Nm
2025 KTM 390 Adventure Engine
Powering the new KTM 390 Adventure lineup is the latest 399 cc LC4c single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine from the new 390 Duke. The motor develops 44 bhp at 8,500 rpm and 39 Nm of peak torque at 7,000 rpm, paired with a 6-speed gearbox. The unit also comes with an assist and slipper clutch and a bi-directional quick-shifter. KTM says the gearbox has been optimised for easier shifting in the fifth and sixth gears. The bike maker claims a fuel efficiency of 29 km on the 390 Adventure range.
The 2025 KTM 390 Adventure X is designed with a greater emphasis on road performance, featuring cast alloy wheels. However, it is equipped with fewer amenities, and lacks cruise control, cornering traction control, and ABS, among other features.
2025 KTM 390 Adventure Suspension & Brakes
The latest KTM 390 Adventure is built on a newly designed steel trellis frame and a revised subframe that offers increased rigidity compared to its predecessor. The 390 Adventure R is equipped with a fully adjustable suspension, featuring 43 mm WP Apex USD forks at the front and a mono-shock unit at the rear, both providing 230 mm of travel. In contrast, the 390 Adventure X shares the same suspension configuration but has reduced travel of 200 mm at both ends. The braking system consists of a 320 mm front disc and a 240 mm rear disc, utilizing ByBre radial callipers for enhanced performance.
The 390 Adventure R gets a taller seat height at 875 mm and a higher ground clearance at 272 mm over the X variant
The 390 Adventure R features a higher seat height of 870 mm and a ground clearance of 272 mm, while the 390 Adventure X has a lower seat height of 825 mm and a ground clearance of 232 mm. Both models are equipped with a fuel tank capacity of 14 litres and a dry weight of 165 kg, with a kerb weight of 183 kg.
In terms of features, the 2025 KTM 390 Adventure lineup is well-equipped, boasting a 5-inch TFT digital instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity across all variants. Additional features include cruise control, cornering traction control, cornering ABS, and multiple ride modes—Street, Rain, and Off-road—along with a specific Off-road ABS mode. The 390 Adventure X, being the more basic variant, lacks several features such as cruise control, cornering traction control, ride modes, and cornering ABS, although it does retain the off-road ABS functionality. Furthermore, the new 390 Adventure models come with adjustable foot pegs that offer two positions—standing or seated—for improved comfort.
KTM has previously indicated plans to launch the new 390 Adventure range in India in January. While the specifications have been revealed, the bike has already been introduced in the UK, with the X variant priced at £5,399 (approximately ₹5.8 lakh) and the R variant at £6,699 (approximately ₹7.2 lakh). Deliveries in the UK are set to begin in March. However, prices in India are expected to be significantly lower due to local manufacturing. Announcements regarding pricing are anticipated in the coming days, with deliveries likely commencing later in the year.
