The newly introduced VLF Tennis electric scooter has achieved over 300 bookings within just a few days following the announcement of its pricing in late November. Tushar Shelke, Managing Director of Motohaus, the company responsible for introducing VLF and Brixton Motorcycles to the Indian market, confirmed this development during the recently held India Bike Week 2024 in Goa. Motohaus participated as one of the event's partners, showcasing its latest range of two-wheelers to prospective customers. The Tennis e-scooter, along with the Brixton range, made its first public appearance at this annual event.
Priced at ₹1.30 lakh (ex-showroom), the VLF Tennis electric scooter competes with other electric models such as the Ola S1 Air, Bajaj Chetak, TVS iQube, and Ather Rizta. It features a 1,500-watt hub motor powered by a 2.5 kWh battery pack, with the manufacturer claiming a range of 130 km on a single charge and a maximum speed of 65 km/h. Additionally, a 720-watt charger is included, with a stated charging time of 3 hours.
Motohaus plans to assemble the electric scooter locally at its CKD assembly facility in Kolhapur, Maharashtra. In terms of its construction, the scooter is equipped with telescopic front forks and a single shock absorber at the rear. For braking, it utilizes disc brakes at both the front and rear. The company asserts that the Tennis e-scooter has a lightweight design, weighing only 88 kg.
The instrument console features a 5-inch TFT display, complemented by full-LED lighting. Additionally, the vehicle boasts a ground clearance of 140 mm and a seat height of 780 mm.
For those unfamiliar, VLF stands for Velocifero, a brand established by Alessandro Tartarini, the son of Leopoldo Tartarini, the founder of the Italjet brand. Although VLF maintains an Italian heritage, its scooters are produced by Taizhou Velocifero Vehicle Co. Ltd, located in Zhejiang, China. The VLF brand is currently accessible in India through Motohaus, based in Kolhapur.
