Mercedes-Benz India is set to introduce the Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series in the country, with the launch scheduled for March 17, 2025. The Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 was globally unveiled in August 2024 and is derived from the Mercedes-AMG SL 63, featuring exclusive enhancements that position it as the most dynamic Maybach available for purchase.
Mercedes-Maybach SL 680: What's New?
The latest Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 features a range of exclusive Maybach enhancements, such as a distinctive chrome grille, updated bumpers, and specially designed alloy wheels, along with additional chrome accents throughout the vehicle to elevate its luxury appeal. This model is also equipped with new rose-gold accents in the headlamp assembly, and customers can choose to personalize the soft-fabric roof adorned with Maybach logos.
Mercedes-Maybach SL 680: Interior Changes
In contrast to the AMG SL 63, the newly introduced Maybach SL 680 features a two-seater configuration, eliminating the rear seats. The overall design remains consistent, showcasing a large digital console accompanied by a centrally positioned vertically stacked screen. Significantly, the sporty AMG features have been substituted with luxurious Maybach enhancements, which include a redesigned steering wheel and updated graphics on the displays.
The cabin of the SL 680 Roadster forgoes the rear seating arrangement and incorporates additional Maybach-specific features, including a newly designed steering wheel.
Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Specifications
Mercedes has refined the 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8 engine in the Maybach SL 680, maintaining an output of 577 bhp and 800 Nm of peak torque. This power is transmitted through a 9-speed automatic transmission to all four wheels. The engine now offers a more linear power delivery, achieving 0-100 km/h in 4.1 seconds, which is 0.5 seconds slower than the AMG SL 63. The top speed is electronically limited to 260 km/h, compared to 315 km/h for the AMG variant. Additionally, Mercedes has updated the exhaust system and incorporated more sound insulation into the Maybach. The suspension has also been modified to enhance ride comfort, while rear-axle steering remains a standard feature.
The new Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 is set to compete with the premier convertibles available in the market, including the Bentley Continental GT Convertible and the Aston Martin DB12 Volante, among others. Anticipated pricing is expected to be around ₹3 crore upon its launch in India.
