10 hours ago | 5 Views
Mercedes-Benz India announced the launch of the Mercedes EQS SUV 450 on Thursday, marking the first of two planned releases for the calendar year 2025, with the highly anticipated G-Wagon 580 set to follow. This launch comes shortly after the introduction of the Mercedes EQS 580, which was unveiled four months prior in September 2024. The seven-seater EQS 580 was priced at ₹1.41 crore and features a 118 kWh battery, while the five-seater EQS 450 is available at ₹1.28 crore (all prices are ex-showroom). Deliveries for the EQS 450 electric SUV are scheduled to commence in February.
The Mercedes EQS 450 does not include a third row of seats; however, it is equipped with an impressive 122 kWh battery pack, providing a claimed range of 820 kilometres per charge. The vehicle produces 355 bhp of power and 800 Nm of peak torque. According to Mercedes, the EQS 580 is designed for larger families, whereas the EQS 450 caters to those who prioritize range above all else.
It is noteworthy that the 122 kWh battery pack in the Mercedes EQS 450 is currently the largest available in any electric vehicle in the Indian market. Furthermore, there are additional features to consider.
Mercedes EQS 450: Key Design Features
The EQS 450, a premium all-electric offering from Mercedes, boasts an impressive aesthetic appeal. It features slightly increased width and minimal height compared to its three-row counterpart while maintaining the same overall length. The absence of a third row of seats allows for a substantial cargo capacity of 651 litres.
However, the EQS 450 aims to emphasize its distinctive style beyond just specifications. It shares many design elements with the EQS 580, including 21-inch five-spoke alloy wheels, a prominent closed front grille adorned with the iconic Mercedes tri-star, illuminated running boards designed for aerodynamics, and advanced LED lighting systems at both the front and rear.
Mercedes EQS 450: Notable Features of the Interior
The interior of the EQS 450 does not significantly differ from that of the EQS 580, aside from the presence of two rows of seating in the former model. It features a Nappa leather-wrapped steering wheel, an expansive Hyperscreen that is increasingly becoming a key attraction in the brand's luxury offerings, memory-adjustable seat positions, and a Burmester 3D Surround Sound system enhanced with Dolby Atmos technology.
Mercedes EQS 450 vs rivals
The Mercedes EQS 450 is anticipated to continue the competition that the EQS 580 is currently engaged in with rivals such as the BMW iX and Audi Q8 e-tron. Additionally, it may pose a challenge to its counterparts, including the gasoline-powered GLS and the EQE.
