Ahmedabad-based startup Matter is poised to increase the availability of its electric motorcycle, the Aera, in various Indian cities after its initial launch in Bengaluru. In the next 45 days, the company intends to introduce the model in Pune, Delhi, Chennai, Coimbatore, Mumbai, Jaipur, Surat, and Rajkot.

The company has initiated bookings via its website and an online platform. To facilitate the rollout in new locations, Matter is establishing "Experience Hubs" where prospective customers can view the bike and engage in test rides. These experience hubs are designed to assist riders in evaluating how the AERA caters to their daily commuting requirements. The company states that these hubs will operate in all eight cities prior to the commercial release of the vehicle.

Mohal Lalbhai, Founder and CEO of Matter, mentioned that the company noted significant interest during the Bengaluru launch of the AERA electric motorcycle. He commented that the forthcoming expansion into additional cities aims to enhance accessibility to the product and cater to the diverse needs of Indian riders.

Matter Aera: Specs and features

Matter Aera is the sole electric motorcycle featuring a manual gear-shifting system. It is available in two versions, the 5000 and 5000+, priced at ₹1. 74 lakh and ₹1. 84 lakh, respectively, with both prices being ex-showroom.

Both the 5000 and 5000+ models come with a 10 kW (13. 4 bhp) electric motor and achieve a 0 to 60 km/h acceleration in just six seconds. The company asserts that the range is 125 km on a full charge.

In terms of features, the electric bike gets a 7-inch touchscreen console that offers navigation, music, calls, and other features. The Aera can be charged from any common 5-amp socket and can be plugged into any convenient outlet. According to the manufacturer, the running cost of this electric motorcycle is around 25 paise per kilometer.
