1 day ago | 5 Views

Maruti Suzuki is set to introduce its inaugural electric vehicle, the e Vitara. This model is scheduled to be unveiled at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, taking place from January 17 to 22. The e Vitara has already been previewed through the eVX concept, marking Maruti Suzuki's entry into the expanding electric passenger vehicle market in India.

The e Vitara was initially showcased via the eVX at the Auto Expo 2023. Over the subsequent two years, Suzuki refined the eVX into a production-ready e-Vitara for international markets. Upon its launch in India, the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara will occupy a position within the compact electric SUV segment, competing against models such as the Tata Curvv EV and the Mahindra BE 6e. The forthcoming electric SUV is comparable in size to the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.

As the Indian automotive sector prepares for the debut of the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara next month, a detailed overview of the electric SUV's features and anticipated performance is warranted.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara: Aesthetic Features.

The initial teaser of the e Vitara, unveiled by Maruti Suzuki, highlighted the electric SUV's front design, prominently featuring Y-shaped LED daytime running lights. Additionally, the globally revealed Suzuki e Vitara showcased a robust blacked-out bumper along with fog lamps positioned in the lower section. The model intended for the Indian market is anticipated to adopt a design similar to that of its international counterpart. This SUV is expected to be equipped with 18-inch blacked-out alloy wheels, while the all-wheel-drive variant is likely to feature 19-inch wheels. Furthermore, the vehicle will include substantial body cladding. The rear door handles are expected to be positioned on the C-pillar, enhancing its modern aesthetic. At the rear, the SUV will be fitted with LED taillights linked by a sleek strip and a shark fin antenna.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara: Cabin Features.

The interior of the Suzuki e Vitara electric SUV, designed for the global market, showcases a dual-tone aesthetic along with a dual-screen configuration that integrates both the touchscreen infotainment system and the instrument cluster. Additionally, the cabin is equipped with a dual-spoke steering wheel and vertically arranged air conditioning vents adorned with chrome accents. The forthcoming India-specific Maruti Suzuki e Vitara is anticipated to incorporate comparable design features and elements. It is expected to include amenities such as automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, a head-up display, and a wireless phone charger, among other features.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara: Powertrain Specifications.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara will be available in two different battery pack options - 49 kWh and 61 kWh. The 49 kWh battery pack will be available with a 2WD drivetrain only. It will be able to churn out 142 bhp peak power and 189 Nm of maximum torque. The bigger battery pack will be available in both 2WD and 4WD drivetrain options. The 2WD model will generate 171 bhp peak power and 189 Nm of maximum torque, while the 4WD version, which will be the top-spec variant will produce 245 bhp peak power and 300 Nm peak torque. Expect the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara to offer a range between 500 and 600 kilometres.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara: Safety Features.

The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara is set to be equipped with a range of safety features, including six airbags as standard, a 360-degree surround-view camera, parking sensors for both the front and rear, electronic stability control, and an electronic parking brake with an auto-hold function, among others. The model designed for the global market includes level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). However, it remains uncertain whether the India-specific version of the e Vitara will incorporate this feature. Should it be included, this SUV would become the first Maruti Suzuki vehicle to offer such advanced safety technology.
