This electric SUV made its global introduction in November 2024 in Italy, followed by its Indian unveiling at the Bharat Mobility Global Auto Expo in January 2025. Maruti Suzuki has expressed significant confidence in the e Vitara, aiming for it to become a dominant force in the Indian passenger vehicle sector by 2026.

In addition to launching this electric SUV, Maruti Suzuki is committed to establishing a robust EV charging infrastructure for its customers, which the company believes will help it achieve its ambition of becoming the leading electric vehicle manufacturer in the country. Below are some insights regarding Maruti Suzuki's inaugural electric car.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara: Design

The design of the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara draws inspiration from the Maruti Suzuki eVX concept showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo. The e Vitara is equipped with LED projector headlights, Y-shaped LED daytime running lights, and front fog lamps. As an electric vehicle, it does not require a traditional radiator grille.

The side profile features black cladding, and the vehicle is fitted with 18-inch aerodynamic alloy wheels. At the rear, there is a black bumper complemented by a three-piece LED taillight assembly, which is connected by a sleek black strip.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara: Cabin and Interior

The interior of the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara features a dual-spoke steering wheel and a dual-screen layout on the dashboard. This setup includes a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system alongside a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster.

Additional design elements and features within the e Vitara's cabin comprise rectangular air conditioning vents, an auto-dimming interior rearview mirror, semi-leatherette seat upholstery, an electronic parking brake, and a wireless phone charger. Furthermore, it is equipped with a panoramic sunroof, a driver's seat that can be adjusted in ten ways, and ventilated front seats. Safety is prioritized with seven airbags as standard, a 360-degree surround view camera, and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara: Specs

While the company has yet to make an official announcement, it is anticipated that the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara will offer two battery pack options: 49 kWh and 61 kWh. Each battery pack is expected to provide different power outputs, with a range exceeding 500 kilometers on a single charge. The e Vitara will support both 7 kW AC charging and up to 70 kW DC fast charging.

The 49 kWh battery pack, paired with a front-axle mounted electric motor, is projected to deliver a maximum power of 142 bhp and a peak torque of 192.2 Nm. In contrast, the 61 kWh battery pack is expected to produce a maximum power of 171 bhp and a torque of 192.5 Nm.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara: Price and rivals

The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara is set to enter the highly competitive electric compact SUV market, which currently features six models at various price points, starting with the MG Windsor EV, followed by the Tata Curvv EV, Hyundai Creta EV, and MG ZS EV. The Mahindra BE 6 and BYD Atto 3 occupy the higher end of the market. It is anticipated that Maruti Suzuki will adopt an aggressive pricing strategy for the e Vitara, with expected costs ranging from ₹16 lakh to ₹21 lakh, all prices being ex-showroom.
