Maruti Suzuki, Hero MotoCorp Retain Leadership in PV and Two-Wheeler Segments for FY25: FADA

Maruti Suzuki has maintained its leading position in the Indian passenger vehicle sector for the fiscal year 2025. The company reported retail sales of 1,671,559 units during the past financial year, securing a market share of 40.25% by the end of the fiscal period. In comparison, Maruti Suzuki sold 1,608,041 units in fiscal year 2024, achieving a market share of 40.6%, as per data from the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations of India (FADA).

Following Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai achieved retail sales of 559,149 units in fiscal year 2025, capturing a market share of 13.46%, down from 14.21% in the previous year.

Tata Motors reported sales of 535,960 passenger vehicles last year, resulting in a market share of 12.9%. This was a slight decrease from the 539,567 units sold in fiscal year 2024, where it held a market share of 13.62%. Additionally, Mahindra recorded retail sales of 512,626 units in the last fiscal year, translating to a market share of 12.34%. The Mumbai-based manufacturer had sold 427,390 units in fiscal year 2024, with a market share of 10.79%.

Overall, retail sales of passenger vehicles rose by 5% to 4,153,432 units in the last fiscal year, compared to 3,960,602 units in fiscal year 2024, according to FADA.

Hero MotoCorp retained the two-wheeler top spot

Hero MotoCorp retained its position as the leader in two-wheeler retail sales for the last fiscal year, achieving sales of 5,445,251 units. The domestic two-wheeler giant secured a market share of 28.84%, outpacing its nearest competitor, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India, which held a market share of 25.37% with sales exceeding 4,789,283 units, as reported by FADA.

TVS Motor Company ranked third in the previous fiscal year, with sales totaling 3,301,781 units and a market share of 17.49%. In total, two-wheeler registrations increased by eight percent, reaching 18,877,812 units compared to 17,527,115 units in 2023-24.

In the broader context, overall automobile retail sales in India grew by six percent to 26,143,943 units in FY25, with rural markets outperforming urban areas in both the passenger vehicle and two-wheeler categories.
