Safe features in passenger vehicles have been increasingly influencing the purchasing decisions of consumers. Modern Indian car buyers have begun to prioritise the importance of both active and passive safety features in the cars they wish to own. Driven by this demand, car manufacturers in the country have started to incorporate a broader array of safety features. Maruti Suzuki, as the largest car producer in the country based on sales figures, cannot overlook this trend. The automaker is now preparing to provide six airbags as a standard installation across its full lineup of passenger vehicles.

At present, certain models from Maruti Suzuki are already equipped with six airbags as standard. These models include the Alto K10, Wagon R, Celerio, and Swift hatchbacks. In addition, the new generation Maruti Suzuki Dzire sub-compact sedan, which has achieved a five-star rating in the Global NCAP crash test, is also fitted with six airbags as standard. Moreover, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and the Fronx crossover, which is based on the premium hatchback, are also supplied with six airbags, but only in their respective highest-spec versions. Furthermore, the premium models likewise feature six airbags.

2025 Maruti Suzuki Celerio Gets Safer, Gets 6 Airbags In All Variants

Maruti Suzuki has already announced that its entire lineup of passenger vehicles will feature six airbags as a standard inclusion. Although the automotive company has not clearly indicated the timeline, it is anticipated that the full implementation of six airbags as standard fitment will be achieved by the conclusion of the current financial year. With this action, models like the S-Presso, Fronx, Baleno, and Ignis will receive six airbags as a standard feature, as these are the only models within the range lacking this provision.

Six airbags would incur an additional cost.

Even though Maruti Suzuki’s complete lineup of passenger vehicles will include six airbags as standard, the manufacturer is likely to raise the prices of the models once more. In 2025, Maruti Suzuki cars have experienced significant price increases due to various reasons such as inflation and the rising cost of raw materials. With the introduction of six airbags, the prices of Maruti Suzuki models will be elevated further.
