Mahindra has established itself as the fastest-growing automotive brand in South Africa, achieving an impressive 40 percent increase in monthly sales over the past year.

In March, the Indian automaker set a new sales milestone by selling 2,253 units, marking the first time it exceeded the 2,000 sales mark and significantly surpassing its previous record of 1,613 registrations.

Furthermore, Mahindra reached an annual sales record of 15,088 vehicles for the financial year, concluding in March 2025.

During this record-breaking period, Mahindra surpassed all of its self-set goals.

For instance, in March, it achieved the highest monthly sales of SUVs with 1,000 units sold, recorded the most bakkies sold in a single month at 1,256 units, and delivered the largest number of Scorpio-N SUVs in one month at 145 units.

These accomplishments have elevated Mahindra to the position of the eighth-largest vehicle manufacturer in South Africa, just two months after it entered the top ten.

Rajesh Gupta, CEO of Mahindra South Africa, remarked, “A detailed analysis of the Naamsa sales data for the financial year ending in March indicates that Mahindra is the fastest-growing vehicle brand among those with high-volume sales (over 500 units per month)."

Mahindra has achieved this leading status three times in the past decade, specifically in 2018, 2022, and now in 2025.

“The vast majority of our sales in the last month and year were to individual customers rather than bulk sales to fleet operators. This truly reflects the strength of the Mahindra brand."

To sustain its growth in South Africa, Mahindra has announced the establishment of a new manufacturing hub at the Dube Tradeport in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. This facility will replace the existing factory and will feature advanced assembly capabilities. Mahindra plans to manufacture its range of pick-up trucks at this new plant, which has a production capacity exceeding 1,000 units per month, compared to the current facility's output of approximately 700 units.

The brand sells XUV 3XO, the Bolero pick-up truck, the XUV700 and the Scorpio N. Apart from this, there is the Scorpio which is sold in several different body forms.
