
Mahindra Inks ₹2,700 Crore Pact for Supplying Nearly 2,000 Scorpio Pik-Ups to Army

The Mahindra Scorpio Pik-Up is set to be incorporated into the Indian Armed Forces. Mahindra Automotive has announced the signing of a ₹2,700 crore agreement to deliver 1,986 units of the Scorpio Pik-Up to the military.
With this contract, the company will have supplied over 4,000 units, which include the Scorpio Pik-Up, Scorpio Classic, Scorpio-N, and Bolero Pik-Up 4WDs. Additionally, the Indian Army will possess more than 7,000 Mahindra Scorpio SUVs. Earlier this month, it was revealed that 2,978 units of the Force Gurkha will also be added to the fleet of the Indian Armed Forces.
Mahindra Scopio-N Pik-Up: Design and features
Earlier this year, prototypes of the forthcoming Scorpio N Pik-Up were spotted in India. The company had previously unveiled the concept model in 2023. Observations of the test mule suggest that the front design of the Scorpio N will be incorporated into the new pick-up truck, featuring LED headlamps with a projector setup, a new grille, and the twin-speak logo. Additionally, the robust flat bonnet and C-shaped LED Daytime Running Lamps were also similar.
In the single-cab variant, the Scorpio N alloy wheels were maintained, while the dual-cab version was equipped with steel wheels. Both pick-up models included a roll bar that extends above the truck's height to protect the body shell in case of a rollover.
The Mahindra Scorpio N Pik-Up is expected to be equipped with Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), trailer sway control, comprehensive airbag safety, 5G connectivity, driver fatigue detection, and the 4Xplore four-wheel drive system.

Conversely, the interior of the Mahindra Scorpio N Pik-Up closely resembles that of the already available Scorpio N. It features an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The steering wheel and air conditioning controls are identical to those found in the Scorpio N. The prototype of the pick-up truck observed was equipped with a manual transmission, along with a handbrake and a front center armrest. Currently, it remains unclear what materials Mahindra will utilize for this model. While the Scorpio N incorporates soft-touch materials, the pick-up truck may utilize different materials to withstand harsher conditions.
It is anticipated that the new pick-up truck will utilize the same engine and transmission options as the current generation of Mahindra SUVs. Therefore, it is likely to feature a 2.0-liter turbo petrol engine and a 2.2-liter diesel engine. A 6-speed manual transmission will be standard, with an optional 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission available for customers.
