The competition in the Indian electric passenger vehicle market has really ramped up over the past few years, especially in the electric compact SUV category. Since 2023, a bunch of new EVs have hit the market, with most of them being SUVs. Automakers are particularly focusing on the compact SUV segment. The Hyundai Kona was the first electric compact SUV to launch back in 2019, and since then, six more models have joined the lineup. Recently, the Mahindra BE 6 made its debut in November 2024, following the Tata Curvv EV, which launched in September 2024.

Even though the BE 6 and the Curvv EV are quite similar in size, their pricing differs a bit. The BE 6 kicks off at ₹18.90 lakh, with the top-tier Pack Three variant going for ₹26.90 lakh, all ex-showroom prices. On the other hand, the Tata Curvv EV starts at ₹17.99 lakh, and its highest variant, the Empowered+ A, is priced at ₹21.99 lakh. Interestingly, the mid-spec BE 6 Pack Two, priced at ₹21.90 lakh, is on par with the top variant of the Tata Curvv EV. Let’s take a look at how these two EVs, both around ₹22 lakh, stack up against each other in terms of features, specifications, and range.

Tata Curvv EV vs Mahindra BE 6: A Feature Comparison

The Tata Curvv EV Empowered+ A is the ultimate model, packed with all the top features. On the exterior, it boasts sleek digital lights with a charging indicator, stylish 18-inch alloy wheels, projector headlights, connected tail-lights, front fog lights, and mirrors that fold electrically.

Inside, you’ll find power-adjustable seats for both the driver and passenger, a rear armrest, and ventilated front seats for comfort. The infotainment system has been upgraded to a 12.3-inch Harman touchscreen paired with a nine-speaker JBL sound system. Plus, it comes with an acoustic vehicle alert system, an air purifier, and a rear seat that can recline. For extra convenience, the Empowered+ also features a frunk.

When it comes to safety, the Empowered+ A is well-equipped with features like SOS call functionality, adaptive cruise control, and level 2 advanced driver assistance (ADAS). These ADAS features include lane departure warnings, lane keep assist, blind spot detection, and adaptive steering assist. Other important safety features are forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and traffic sign recognition.

Mahindra BE 6 Pack Two is packed with features, even though it's the mid-spec model. On the outside, it boasts cool stuff like sequential turn indicators, a startup lighting sequence, front fog lights, cornering lamps, and auto booster lamps. Plus, it comes with front parking sensors.

Inside, the cabin is dressed in soft fabric upholstery. This electric vehicle rocks a 16-speaker Harman-Kardon audio system with Dolby Atmos, an NFC key for keyless entry, rear AC vents, and a rear parcel shelf. For safety and driver assistance, the BE 6 is equipped with Level-2 ADAS, which uses one radar and one camera to enhance driving support, including adaptive cruise control.

Tata Curvv EV compared to Mahindra BE 6: Specifications and range

The Tata Curvv EV offers two battery options: a 45 kWh and a 55 kWh. Both versions are paired with a 165 bhp electric motor. The top-tier Empowered+ A model comes with the larger 55 kWh battery, which boasts a certified range of up to 585 km on a single charge. Tata Motors also claims that this model can charge enough to cover 150 km in just 15 minutes. The Curvv EV can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.6 seconds and has a maximum speed of 160 km/h.

On the other hand, the Mahindra BE 6 features two battery options as well: 79 kWh and 59 kWh. The Pack Two variant is limited to the smaller 59 kWh battery, but it still stands out in its segment with a larger capacity compared to competitors. Mahindra states that the 59 kWh battery can achieve a range of 535 km. Plus, it supports DC fast charging at up to 175 kW, allowing it to go from 20% to 80% in about 20 minutes.

With a rear-wheel drive configuration, the Mahindra BE 6 Pack Two delivers a peak output of 230 bhp and 380 Nm of torque. It also features multiple driving modes, including Range, Everyday, and Race, along with a Boost mode and a One-pedal drive mode.
