MG Windsor EV Hits 15,000 Units: A Milestone in Green Mobility

JSW MG Motor India has announced that its new Windsor EV has surpassed the production milestone of 15,000 units. Launched in September of the previous year, the MG Windsor EV has quickly become a significant success for the brand. From October 2024 to January 2025, it was recognized as the best-selling electric vehicle in the country for four consecutive months, solidifying its position as the top seller for MG Motor India.

MG to increase production for new Windsor

In response to the strong demand for the new Windsor, JSW MG Motor India reported receiving approximately 200 bookings daily for the electric crossover. The company indicated that it could have reached the 15,000-unit production milestone sooner if not for the modifications being made at its Halol manufacturing facility in Gujarat. These upgrades are intended to accommodate the increasing demand for the Windsor, although the temporary slowdown may impact MG's wholesale figures for the month.

Commenting on this achievement, Biju Balendran, Deputy Managing Director of JSW MG Motor India, stated, “We are thrilled with the enthusiastic response to the MG Windsor and appreciate our customers for helping us reach the 15,000-unit production milestone. The CUV has been well-received by consumers due to its competitive pricing and features, providing a luxurious experience akin to business class. Initiatives such as Battery as a Service (BaaS), the buyback program, and a lifetime warranty have significantly enhanced consumer confidence in electric vehicles. As we expand our product range, we remain dedicated to delivering high-quality offerings to our customers more efficiently.”

He further noted, “As a result, we are enhancing the capacity of our Halol facility to meet the growing demand for the Windsor. We are also implementing certain modifications to prepare for new products under MG Select, which is set to launch in the first half of this year. Therefore, we expect a temporary production slowdown in February, which may affect our wholesale figures during this time.”

MG Windsor EV Prices

The MG Windsor EV marks the brand's inaugural introduction of a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option, which significantly reduces the pricing of this electric crossover. As a result, the manufacturer has positioned the vehicle competitively, with prices commencing at ₹10 lakh and reaching up to ₹16 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

MG Windsor EV Features

The MG Windsor is well-equipped with a variety of features and offers a spacious interior. This electric model includes a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 9-speaker Infinity audio system, automatic climate control, a panoramic glass roof, reclining seats, wireless charging, and additional amenities. Furthermore, the vehicle is outfitted with six airbags, a 360-degree camera, a hill hold function, and other safety features.

MG Windsor EV Specifications

The MG Windsor is powered by a single electric motor that delivers 134 bhp and 200 Nm of peak torque, paired with a 38 kWh battery pack that offers a range of 332 km (MIDC I+II) on a single charge.

JSW MG Motor India aims to replicate the success of the Windsor EV with its forthcoming models. The automaker plans to launch two new electric vehicles, the Cyberster and M9, in March, which will be available through the brand's new premium ‘MG Select’ dealership network. Bookings for the MG Cyberster and M9 are currently open.
