JSW MG Motor India is set to discontinue the 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine option for the Astor SUV. The MG Astor has recently undergone updates for the 2025 model year, which include additional features for the lower variants. However, moving forward, the model will be offered exclusively with the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. An official announcement regarding the discontinuation of the turbo petrol engine has yet to be made by MG.

HT Auto reports that MG Motor India plans to fulfil current orders and bookings before completely phasing out the engine option. It is noteworthy that the MG Astor 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine accounted for only a small portion of overall sales, which likely explains the company's decision to discontinue this engine variant.

The 2025 MG Astor receives enhancements to the mid-level Shine and Select trims, which now include a panoramic sunroof, all while maintaining a price point below ₹12.5 lakh. It is important to note that the Astor 1.3 turbo engine is offered exclusively in the premium Savvy Pro variant, which is priced at ₹18.07 lakh (ex-showroom). This engine delivers 138 bhp and 220 Nm of peak torque and is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. As the turbo engine option is phased out, the 2025 MG Astor will still feature the 1.5-litre petrol engine, producing 108 bhp and 144 Nm of peak torque, available with either a 5-speed manual or an 8-step CVT automatic transmission.

2025 MG Astor Prices & Features

The starting price for the 2025 MG Astor is now set at ₹10 lakh, reaching a maximum of ₹17.56 lakh (ex-showroom). This SUV is offered in five different variants: Sprint, Shine, Select, Sharp Pro, and Savvy Pro. Notably, the high-end Savvy Pro variant now incurs an additional cost of ₹24,000. The features available remain unchanged, including a panoramic sunroof, Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ventilated front seats with an electrically adjustable driver's seat, and various connected technologies, among others.

The MG Astor equipped with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine will maintain its competitive stance against the Hyundai Creta, Honda Elevate, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota UC Hyryder, and Kia Seltos, all of which feature 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engines. In contrast, the Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun are exclusively available with turbo petrol engines, whereas both the Creta and Seltos offer turbo petrol variants as well.
