Land Rover has introduced the Defender SUV in India, priced at ₹1.39 crore (ex-showroom), featuring a range of updates. This luxury SUV is now available in its 2025 iteration, equipped with a new V8 engine in addition to the existing turbocharged petrol and diesel options. The new engine variant is available across all three models of the luxury SUV: Defender 90, Defender 110, and Defender 130. The V8 variants are priced approximately ₹35 lakh higher than the base model.

The 2025 Land Rover Defender is set to compete once again with prominent vehicles in the luxury segment, including the BMW X7, Mercedes GLC, Jeep Wrangler, Range Rover Velar, and Volvo XC90, among others. The latest updates, which encompass new features, will be offered in the X-Dynamic, HSE, and X trims of the Defender SUV.

Land Rover Defender: New V8 engine enhances power

The 2025 Land Rover Defender SUV will feature a newly introduced and more robust V8 P425 5.0-litre petrol engine, capable of producing nearly 425 bhp of maximum power and 610 Nm of peak torque. Additionally, Land Rover provides options for 2.0-litre and 3.0-litre turbocharged petrol engines within the Defender range. The top-tier variant, known as the Octa, is equipped with a 4.4-litre V8 petrol engine, which stands as the most powerful option in the Land Rover Defender SUV lineup in India, delivering 626 bhp of power and 750 Nm of peak torque.

Land Rover Defender: Key feature updates

The 2025 Defender SUV will not only feature a more robust engine but will also come with a range of new and enhanced attributes. The interior has been refreshed with luxurious Windsor leather seating, 14-way heated and ventilated front seats that include memory settings and winged headrests, as well as climate-controlled second-row seats with similar headrest design. Additional enhancements include Nubuck-edged carpet mats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel, among other features.

Furthermore, the new Defender SUV will be equipped with an 11.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 3D surround camera, a sliding panoramic sunroof, a Meridian sound system, and a refrigerator compartment located in the front center console. The Defender 130 variant will also offer captain's chairs in the second row to facilitate easier access to the third row.

Land Rover Defender: Design updates

Land Rover has enhanced the Defender SUV by incorporating new features into its exterior design. Notable additions include matrix LED headlights equipped with daytime running lights, a contrasting black roof, and 20-inch all-terrain alloy wheels in a Satin Dark Grey finish, among other enhancements. Additionally, the SUV is now equipped with a soft-close tailgate.

Land Rover Defender: Enhanced performance

The new Defender SUV will now come with Terrain Response and Configurable Terrain Response features which promise to help customise settings to tackle challenging roads. It also offers Electronic Air Suspension and Adaptive Dynamics for improved ride quality.
