The Land Rover Defender 90, previously owned by King Charles III and Queen Camilla, is scheduled to be auctioned next month. This custom SUV, which was presented to the royal family 15 years ago, will be sold through Iconic Auctioneers and is anticipated to command a significant price due to its royal provenance. Reports suggest it may reach a value of up to £50,000 (approximately 55 lakh). This vehicle is part of the royal family's extensive collection, which includes luxury brands such as Range Rover, Aston Martin, Jaguar, and Bentley.
The Land Rover Defender 90 was officially delivered to the royal family on November 15, 2010, and was placed in the Royal Garage at Highgrove House, as confirmed by a letter addressed to Tim Williams, the Head Chauffeur for The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall. The delivery was facilitated by Jaguar Land Rover's Special Vehicles division and included a Land Rover Motoring Users Guide, a Land Rover Assistance Membership Card, and a Certificate of Motor Insurance. Additionally, it came with a service book detailing the initial service performed by MJ Fews, a Land Rover specialist located in Wooton-under-Edge.
Unique Features of King Charles' Land Rover Defender
The Land Rover Defender 90 set for auction is a tailored version of the model produced by the British manufacturer. Notably, the rear windows are reinforced with metal for enhanced safety and privacy. The exterior is finished in Keswick Green, while the interior features a charcoal grey colour scheme. Photographs provided by the auction house indicate minimal wear and tear, suggesting that the vehicle has been meticulously cared for by the royal family over the past 15 years. Although it may not possess the advanced features of contemporary models, the SUV was equipped with heated front seats and heated front and rear screens at the time of its release in 2010.
