Lamborghini is preparing to unveil its inaugural electric vehicle by 2030, which is anticipated to be the most powerful model produced by the renowned Italian sports car manufacturer. Upon its release, it is expected to deliver approximately 2,000 bhp of peak power. Oliver Blume, CEO of Volkswagen AG, has disclosed that this forthcoming electric sports car will be built on a specially designed platform tailored for electric vehicles.

In a discussion with a British automotive publication, Blume indicated that the Lamborghini electric vehicle will utilize a unique platform developed by Porsche. This platform will also serve as the foundation for electric vehicles from other luxury and performance brands within the Volkswagen group, including Audi and Bentley. Blume emphasized, “It’s a very specific setup for Lamborghini," and assured that the vehicle will embody the quintessential Lamborghini experience, characterized by strong emotional appeal.

The new electric vehicle architecture from Volkswagen AG will support systems of up to 980 volts, suggesting significant capabilities for the powertrain of the upcoming Lamborghini electric vehicle. The design of this electric sports car is expected to draw inspiration from the Lanzador concept, which was first revealed to the public in mid-2023. The Lamborghini Lanzador concept featured a raised suspension and a two-door configuration, elements likely to be incorporated into the production version of the electric vehicle.

The Lanzador concept was presented with a powertrain capable of generating 1,322 bhp at peak output. Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann has confirmed that the forthcoming electric vehicle will produce at least this amount of power, if not more. The production model is anticipated to offer enhanced performance, reaching around 2,000 bhp, and will be equipped with two electric motors, one for each axle, providing all-wheel drive capabilities.

Initially, Lamborghini aimed to launch the electric vehicle in 2028; however, the timeline has since been adjusted to 2029. The automaker is confident that this electric vehicle will significantly boost sales figures.
