The essential specifications of the LML Star electric scooter, including its range and performance metrics, have been officially disclosed in anticipation of its launch in India later this year. The Star was presented at the Auto Expo 2023 in Greater Noida and was initially slated for release last year. It will be the first of three electric vehicles to be introduced in India by the electric two-wheeler manufacturer in the near future. This forthcoming electric scooter has been designed by a team of experts recruited from renowned global two-wheeler manufacturers such as Ducati, Ferrari, Yamaha, and Kawasaki.
While LML has not specified the exact launch date, it has confirmed that the electric vehicle will be unveiled this year. Upon its release, it is expected to compete with established models such as the Ola S1 Pro, Ather 450X, TVS iQube, and Bajaj Chetak electric within the Indian electric scooter market.
LML has announced the acquisition of a crucial certification for the Star electric scooter. The company has obtained the Central Motor Vehicles Rules (CMVR) certificate, which ensures that the electric vehicle complies with the quality and safety standards mandated by the government for market-ready vehicles. This certification represents one of the final steps necessary for LML to launch the Star electric scooter in India. Yogesh Bhatia, Managing Director and CEO of LML, stated, “The acquisition of the CMVR Certificate for the LML Star signifies our adherence to the highest industry standards in technology and safety. With its cutting-edge features, premium design, and exceptional performance, the LML Star is poised to transform the landscape of electric mobility in India.”
LML Star: Range, battery, top speed
LML has disclosed several important specifications of the Star electric scooter prior to its launch. The electric vehicle manufacturer asserts that the Star will provide a range of up to 203 kilometers on a single charge, marking it as the longest range claimed by any electric scooter in India. Although the specifics regarding the battery size of the Star have not been revealed, it is anticipated to feature two sets of removable battery packs. The electric motor is designed to deliver approximately 7.8 bhp of peak power and achieve a maximum speed of 90 km/h.
LML Star: Design and features
The LML Star electric scooter showcases a futuristic design, as indicated by its design patent. It features a dual-tone black and white color scheme, complemented by LED daytime running lights, projector headlights, and striking red accents. According to LML, the Star resembles a mid-maxi scooter, incorporating various design elements. The scooter will be mounted on 14-inch wheels and will include amenities such as a digital display and a wireless charging system. Additionally, LML plans to equip the electric vehicle with safety features, including a tire pressure monitoring system, hill hold assist, reverse mode, and anti-lock braking system (ABS), among others.
