The Kia Syros will be the inaugural SUV manufactured in India by Kia, showcasing the company's Design 2.0 philosophy as part of its Kia 2.0 strategy. This model will present a distinctive silhouette that sets it apart from all other SUVs currently available in the market. The front design of the Kia Syros draws significant inspiration from the EV9, which was introduced earlier this year.
Teasers have indicated that the Syros will incorporate an RV-inspired aesthetic similar to that of the Carens, while still embodying essential SUV traits. Additionally, the Syros will be equipped with vertical LED daytime running lights, a robust front bumper, and a bold front fascia, distinguishing it from other Kia offerings in India. At the rear, the SUV will feature wrap-around L-shaped LED taillights that are positioned high and seamlessly integrated with the roofline.
The Kia Syros will utilize the same engine options found in the Kia Sonet. These consist of a 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine that generates a maximum power of 118 bhp and a peak torque of 172 Nm, as well as a 1.5-litre diesel engine that is calibrated to deliver 116 bhp of maximum power and 250 Nm of peak torque.
Transmission choices for these engines will encompass a 6-speed manual gearbox, a 6-speed torque converter automatic, or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Additionally, it is anticipated that a 6-speed iMT gearbox may also be available.
The Syros is set to incorporate a dual-screen configuration, which will include a touchscreen infotainment system alongside a digital display for the driver. This infotainment system will support wireless connectivity for both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Furthermore, the SUV is expected to offer ventilated seating and ISOFIX mounts for child safety seats. There is a potential for the Syros to be equipped with an Advanced Driver Assistance System and connected car technology.
Additional notable features of the Syros will encompass a push-button ignition system, a 360-degree parking camera, a wireless charging pad, dual USB-C ports, and a panoramic sunroof. The vehicle will also provide various terrain modes and ambient lighting options.
The Kia Syros is positioned between the Seltos and the Sonet in the lineup. With this model, Kia aims to appeal to a more upscale demographic compared to the Sonet. Consequently, although the Kia Syros will maintain sub-compact SUV dimensions, it is anticipated to be equipped with numerous premium features. It will compete with sub-4 metre SUVs such as the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, and the forthcoming Skoda Kylaq.
