1 Design
While much about the Kia Syros remains undisclosed, we can draw several conclusions based on the teasers released by the manufacturer on its social media platforms. These teasers aim to generate excitement by unveiling minor details regarding the forthcoming vehicle. From the information available, it has been confirmed that the Syros will not feature the design of the connected taillights seen in the Seltos and Sonet models. In terms of aesthetics, the Syros is expected to showcase a square-shaped design, robust body cladding, and an overall rugged appearance. The SUV will be equipped with L-shaped LED projector headlights, L-shaped LED taillights positioned around the rear windshield, and a shark fin antenna atop the vehicle.
2 Engine and performance
The Kia Syros will utilize the same engine options found in the Kia Sonet. These include a 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine that generates 118 bhp of maximum power and 172 Nm of peak torque, as well as a 1.5-litre diesel engine delivering 116 bhp of maximum power and 250 Nm of peak torque. Transmission choices for these engines will encompass a 6-speed manual gearbox, a 6-speed torque converter automatic, or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Additionally, it is anticipated that a 6-speed iMT gearbox may also be available.
3. Features
The forthcoming SUV will be equipped with several notable features, including automatic climate control, a dual-screen configuration that incorporates a touchscreen infotainment system alongside a digital driver's display, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seating, and ISOFIX mounts for child seats. The infotainment system is expected to support wireless connectivity for both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Additionally, there is a potential for the Syros to include an Advanced Driver Assistance System and connected car technology.
4. Rivals
The manufacturer intends to position the new model between the Sonet and the Seltos. Consequently, the Syros will compete in the compact SUV market, taking on other sub-4 metre SUVs such as the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, and Skoda Kushaq.
