Kia India Achieves 5% Year-on-Year Growth with 25,025 Units Sold in January 2025

Kia India, the Indian subsidiary of the South Korean automotive manufacturer Kia, has reported a year-on-year increase of 5 percent in January 2025, achieving retail sales of 25,025 units for the month. In comparison, the company sold 23,769 units during the same month last year. Notably, the Kia Sonet played a significant role in driving this growth.

The company indicated that it sold 7,194 units of the Kia Sonet in January 2025, accounting for nearly 29 percent of its total sales for the month. Additionally, the Kia Seltos recorded sales of 6,470 units, representing approximately 26 percent of the overall sales. The Kia Carens achieved retail sales of 5,522 units, while 293 units of the Kia Carnival were also sold during this period.

Furthermore, Kia India exported 1,454 units of the Seltos, Sonet, and Carens to 70 countries in January 2025. The company also reported retail sales of 5,546 units for the newly launched Kia Syros, which was introduced on February 1, 2025, with deliveries commencing shortly thereafter.

Kia Syros: Price, specifications and features

The Kia Syros marks the second sub-compact SUV introduced by the manufacturer in India. It is positioned at a higher price point than the Sonet, with the starting price for the new sub-compact SUV set at ₹8.99 lakh, ex-showroom. The top-tier Kia Syros HTX Plus (O) with a diesel automatic powertrain is priced at ₹17 lakh, ex-showroom.

The Syros is available in four variants: HTK, HTK+, HTX, and HTX+. It offers two engine options: a 1.0L turbocharged petrol engine and a 1.5L diesel engine. The turbo petrol engine generates 118 bhp and 172 Nm of peak torque, while the diesel engine produces 115 bhp and 250 Nm. Both engines are paired with a standard 6-speed manual transmission, with the turbo petrol variant also offering a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic option, and the diesel variant featuring a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

The Kia Syros boasts an impressive array of features, highlighted by a 30-inch panoramic dual-screen configuration that encompasses both a touchscreen infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster. This infotainment system supports wireless connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Additionally, the interior of the Syros is designed for comfort, featuring ventilated seats in both the front and rear, a second row of seats that can slide and recline, a push-button start/stop engine, a 360-degree parking camera, a wireless charging pad, dual USB-C ports, front parking sensors, and a panoramic sunroof.

Furthermore, the Syros is equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) level 2 technology, which includes 16 adaptive safety features such as lane keep assist, hill start assist, electronic stability control, among others.
