KTM 690 Rally Spotted Testing: Could This Adventure Bike Be Headed to India?
14 days ago | 5 Views
KTM has a strong connection to off-road racing, particularly known for its participation in the grueling Dakar Rally. Leveraging its expertise in building durable, high-performance motorcycles, the brand consistently develops models that reflect its racing legacy. The soon-to-be-released KTM 690 Rally is expected to bring rally-inspired design and features to a wider audience. Recently spotted during test rides, this bike will build on the KTM 450 Rally Replica, enhancing it with more practicality for everyday riders.
KTM 690 Rally: Style and Specifications
A test version of the KTM 690 Rally was recently spotted overseas, revealing some significant design elements that closely resemble the 450 Rally Replica. Key parts like the middle section, seat, tail, and swingarm take inspiration from KTM's rally bikes. A standout feature is the tall tower design with a clear headlight cowl, which closely mirrors its Dakar-ready counterpart. The stacked headlight, separated by an LED light bar, aligns it with the design of KTM's rally machines.
Another intriguing detail about the test mule is its three fuel filler caps—two located on the tank and one beneath the seat. This setup hints at a larger fuel tank, making it ideal for long-distance adventure touring. While the chassis and subframe are shared with the KTM 690 Enduro R, the additional components and multiple fuel tanks suggest that the 690 Rally will likely be heavier than its enduro sibling.
KTM 690 Rally: Engine and Performance
The KTM 690 Rally is expected to feature the same liquid-cooled 692.7cc single-cylinder engine found in the 690 Enduro R. This engine produces 75 bhp and 73.5 Nm of torque in the Enduro version. It remains to be seen if these specs will be maintained for the rally model or adjusted for its unique purpose..

KTM 690 Rally: Launch in India
KTM surprised Indian fans last year with the introduction of its larger-capacity bikes, but the release of the 690 Rally in India remains uncertain. The company is gearing up to launch the Enduro R and the 390 Adventure R later this year, which makes it unlikely that the 690 Rally will hit the market anytime soon. If KTM does decide to bring it to India, the price will play a crucial role. As a completely built unit (CBU), the KTM 690 Rally could be priced between ₹10-13 lakh, ex-showroom, positioning it as a niche offering rather than a mainstream adventure tourer.
