Jeep Meridian SUV has introduced a new 4X4 variant following the reintroduction of this feature by the US-based automotive company on January 10. Jeep India has made the 4X4 option available in the Limited (O) variant, which was previously exclusive to the high-end Overland variant of the SUV. The pricing for the new 4X4 variant of the Meridian has not yet been disclosed; however, it is anticipated to be more competitively priced than its predecessor.

In response to consumer demand, Jeep India has brought back the 4X4 variant for the Meridian SUV. This variant is unique as it offers both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive capabilities. The facelifted version of the Meridian was launched in October of the previous year. The Overland variant equipped with the 4X4 powertrain is priced at ₹38.49 lakh (ex-showroom), and it is expected that the Limited (O) 4X4 variant will be priced approximately ₹2 lakh lower.

Jeep Meridian 4X4 variant: Engine, transmission

The Limited (O) variant of the Jeep Meridian is equipped with a 2.0-litre diesel engine, which can be paired with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 9-speed automatic transmission. In contrast, the Overland variant is exclusively available with 4X4 off-road drive technology, utilizing only the automatic gearbox. This engine produces a power output of 168 bhp and delivers a peak torque of 350 Nm.

Jeep launches new accessories pack

Jeep has introduced a new accessories package for customers of the Meridian SUV. This package features a hood decal, side body decal, eyeliner, and programmable ambient lighting. These accessories will be offered across all variants of the SUV. However, the manufacturer has yet to disclose the pricing for these additional features.

Jeep Meridian: Price and rivals

The Jeep Meridian is offered in India in four primary variants: Longitude, Longitude Plus, Limited (O), and Overland. The starting price of the SUV is ₹25 lakh (ex-showroom), reaching up to ₹38.49 lakh (ex-showroom). It competes with other SUVs in its category, such as the MG Gloster and Toyota Fortuner.
