Jaguar is embarking on an exciting new path, and the first glimpse of its future electric vehicle (EV) highlights this shift. A heavily camouflaged test prototype was recently spotted during testing, and the images reveal a striking design that stands out from anything currently on the roads. Set to launch in 2026, this new model signifies Jaguar's move into the ultra-luxury market, positioning it more in line with Bentley rather than competing with BMW and Mercedes.

Initially introduced last year as the Type 00 concept, this vehicle made an appearance at Paris Fashion Week, showcasing the brand's new design philosophy. The covered prototype features a bold, sweeping silhouette reminiscent of classic grand tourers.

Unlike previous Jaguar designs, this model boasts an elongated hood, although it won't house a traditional combustion engine. The final production version is anticipated to be revealed later this year, signaling the start of an exciting new era for the British brand.

Jaguar is transitioning to an all-electric lineup, and this vehicle marks the first step into its EV-only future. The brand has already phased out nearly all of its internal combustion models, with only the F-Pace still in production.

A bold transformation

Jaguar has openly acknowledged that its bold transformation could result in losing up to 85% of its existing customer base. The brand is counting on attracting a new group of buyers willing to spend big on electric luxury cars. In 2024, Jaguar's sales plummeted to just 33,000 units globally, marking an astonishing 82% drop since 2018. Despite this, the company is sticking to its plan, focusing on luxury and design rather than trying to appeal to the masses.

Following the new grand tourer, Jaguar will introduce a high-end SUV and a luxury executive sedan. These models are set to firmly establish Jaguar in the premium electric vehicle market, securing its position in the changing automotive landscape.
