Jaguar is developing a range of next-generation models that will constitute its lineup of electric vehicles, not aimed at competitors such as Mercedes-Benz, Audi, or BMW, but rather at luxury brands like Bentley and Rolls Royce. Essentially, the British manufacturer, owned by Tata Motors, is striving to elevate its status as an ultra-premium automotive brand. The first production model aligned with this strategy has been observed undergoing testing in northern Sweden, navigating icy terrains, providing an early look at its potential design.

According to the spy photographs, the forthcoming Jaguar sedan will represent a significant departure from previous models. It will feature a four-door grand tourer design characterized by an elongated hood, consistent with Jaguar's earlier indications. The company is advancing this initiative with two prototypes of the all-electric Gran Turismo. While a two-door concept was unveiled last December, the production version will take the form of a four-door GT.

Jaguar plans to transition to an all-electric lineup by 2027, with this four-door GT serving as a pivotal model in that vision. As part of its transformation strategy, all existing Jaguar models, including the electric I-Pace, will be discontinued prior to the introduction of the new electric vehicles.

Scheduled for release in 2027, the GT will occupy the pinnacle of Jaguar's sedan offerings. This shift will mark the end of the internal combustion engine (ICE) era for the brand and a departure from a business model focused on high-volume sales, as it aspires to enhance its image as a premium car manufacturer.

In terms of design, the new GT features distinctive proportions, measuring over five meters in length with an exceptionally long hood. It showcases a completely reimagined front profile with a flat appearance, setting it apart from current Jaguar models. The rectangular LED headlights may evoke a sense of Rolls-Royce aesthetics, complemented by large wheels. Additionally, Jaguar is exploring a new design philosophy for the interior, emphasizing a minimalistic approach with fewer screens and innovative materials.

Jaguar's new electric GT: What will power it?

The technical specifications of the forthcoming Jaguar electric vehicle are largely unclear; however, it is anticipated that the four-door GT will offer a range of nearly 800 kilometers on a single charge. This innovative electric car will be constructed on a specialized EV platform known as Jaguar Electrified Architecture (JFA). Additionally, models intended for the North American market will be equipped with a NACS charging port.
