1 Design
The BYD Sealion 7 embodies the company's 'Ocean Series' design philosophy. Its front end is characterized by twin U-shaped LED headlights, a sculpted hood, and a blacked-out bumper that incorporates air vents for improved cooling of the battery and components, along with a front-facing camera as part of the comprehensive 360-degree camera system.
From a lateral perspective, the Sealion 7 presents a coupe-SUV profile, marked by a gently sloping roofline, flush door handles, and 20-inch alloy wheels. The Performance variant is distinguished by its red brake calipers. The rear features a continuous LED tail light arrangement, dual spoilers—one positioned on the roof and another on the trunk lid—and a robust rear bumper.
2 Interior and Features
The interior showcases a sleek all-black aesthetic. Both variants are equipped with comparable features, including a 15.6-inch rotatable touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. Additional elements include a flat-bottom four-spoke steering wheel and a crystal gear selector.
A driver monitoring system employs an infrared camera to observe eye movements and facial expressions, identifying signs of drowsiness or distraction and providing alerts as necessary.
The front seats are covered in Nappa leather and offer electric adjustability—8-way power adjustment with four-way lumbar support for the driver and 6-way power adjustment for the passenger. Both seats are also ventilated. Other notable features include a panoramic glass roof, dual-zone automatic climate control, a 12-speaker audio system, and a head-up display.
In terms of safety, the Sealion 7 is equipped with 11 airbags and an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) suite that includes adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and automatic emergency braking.
3 Performance
The BYD Sealion 7 is constructed on the company’s e-Platform 3.0 and is powered by an 82.5 kWh battery pack across both variants. The Performance variant features an all-wheel-drive configuration with dual electric motors that deliver 523 bhp and 690 Nm of torque, boasting a claimed range of 542 km. Conversely, the Premium variant operates as a rear-wheel-drive model with a single motor producing 308 bhp.
4 Rivals
The Sealion 7 has emerged as BYD's premier model in India, taking the place of the Seal sedan. Within the premium electric SUV category, it faces competition from vehicles such as the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, Mercedes-Benz EQB, BMW iX1, and Volvo EX40 Recharge.
