Hyundai is poised to launch the Creta Electric on January 17, 2025. In anticipation of this release, the manufacturer has revealed the interior design of the forthcoming electric SUV. Similar to its external appearance, the cabin of the Hyundai Creta Electric shares characteristics with its internal combustion engine variant. However, several notable modifications enhance the premium feel of the electric model compared to the standard Hyundai Creta.

One of the primary updates is the introduction of a new three-spoke steering wheel, replacing the four-spoke design found in the traditional Creta. This steering wheel omits the Hyundai logo, featuring instead four dots reminiscent of the Hyundai Ioniq 5. Additionally, the Creta Electric incorporates a gear selector control stalk positioned on the right side of the steering column, a feature made possible by its shift-by-wire system.

Further enhancements to the cabin include cupholders and controls for the electronic parking brake, auto-hold function, and drive modes located on the centre console. Many elements, however, remain consistent with the Creta ICE, such as the dual-screen layout for the infotainment and instrument cluster. The vehicle will also support wireless connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The top-tier Executive trim will enable users to process EV charging payments directly through the infotainment system. The digital instrument cluster features updated graphics that provide information specific to electric vehicles. Moreover, the Creta Electric is equipped with Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology, allowing the car to function as a portable power source, complete with a three-point power socket in the second row.

Additionally, the Creta Electric includes i-Pedal technology, facilitating one-pedal driving. This innovative feature allows the driver to control acceleration, deceleration, and complete stops using only the accelerator pedal.

Hyundai Creta Electric: Safety Attributes

The Hyundai Creta Electric will be equipped with a comprehensive array of safety features, offering 52 standard options. These include six airbags, all-wheel disc brakes, ISOFIX child seat anchors, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and both hill-start and hill-descent assist, among others. Additionally, the higher trim levels will provide an enhanced safety package with 75 features, which includes a surround view monitor (SVM), a blind-spot view monitor (BVM), rain-sensing wipers, and Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) capabilities.

The Level 2 ADAS features available for the Creta Electric encompass Lane Keeping Assist, Forward Collision Warning, Blind Spot Collision Warning, and Smart Cruise Control with stop-and-go functionality, among other advanced technologies.

Hyundai Creta Electric: Aesthetic Features

The Hyundai Creta Electric maintains the well-known exterior aesthetics of its predecessor, which was powered by an internal combustion engine. It showcases a forward-looking appearance, characterized by Hyundai's global Pixel design language, and incorporates a charging port seamlessly within the "Pixelated Graphic Grille" at the front. The rear bumper is adorned with the same pixelated graphic, complemented by stylish LED tail lamps that enhance its contemporary appeal. Additionally, the Creta Electric features Active Air Flaps (AAF) that are strategically placed to manage airflow effectively.

Hyundai Creta Electric: Specs

The Hyundai Creta Electric will be available with two battery pack configurations: 51 kWh and 42 kWh. The larger 51 kWh battery is reported to provide a range of 473 km on a single charge, while the 42 kWh variant is said to have an ARAI-certified range of 390 km. Additionally, the 51 kWh variants will produce 169 bhp, surpassing the power output of the Hyundai Creta N Line, whereas the smaller battery pack variants will deliver 133 bhp. Hyundai asserts that the Creta Electric can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.9 seconds.

Charging options for the Creta Electric include DC fast charging, which is claimed to recharge the battery from 10 per cent to 80 per cent in 58 minutes. Furthermore, there is an option for home charging using an 11 kW Smart Connected Wall Box charger, which Hyundai states can achieve a full charge in approximately 4 hours.

Hyundai Creta Electric: Bookings and pricing

Reservations for the Hyundai Creta Electric have officially begun with an initial deposit of ₹25,000. This model will be available in four primary variants: Executive, Smart, Premium, and Excellence. Customers can choose from eight solid colour options as well as two dual-tone combinations. The electric vehicle is scheduled for launch on January 17, 2025, with anticipated pricing between ₹17 lakh and ₹25 lakh, ex-showroom.
