
India’s EV Wave: Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara, MG M9, and More Expected in Early 2025

Maruti Suzuki's e Vitara is anticipated to be the most eagerly awaited electric vehicle in India for the year 2025. This electric SUV was showcased in its production-ready version at the Auto Expo 2025. The e Vitara has begun arriving at Maruti Suzuki dealerships nationwide in preparation for its launch. It will be offered with two battery pack options: 49 kWh and 61 kWh. The electric SUV is expected to provide a claimed range exceeding 500 kilometres on a single charge.
JSW MG Motors has established itself as a significant contender in the Indian electric vehicle sector, offering models such as the Comet EV, Windsor EV, and ZS EV. The company is now focused on enhancing its electric vehicle portfolio in India with the introduction of new models. Among these, the MG M9 is a pivotal addition to their strategy, having been unveiled at the Auto Expo 2025 and expected to launch in India shortly, positioning itself against competitors like the Kia Carnival and Toyota Vellfire. The MG M9 is designed as a premium electric multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) and will be available through the automaker's specialized premium retail network, MG Select. Equipped with a 90 kWh battery pack, the M9 is anticipated to deliver approximately 400 kilometers of range on a single charge.
The MG Cyberster is an electric roadster that was also presented at the Auto Expo 2025. It is set to be available for purchase through the MG Select network, alongside the M9 MPV. The Cyberster features scissor doors and is powered by a 77 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. It offers an impressive range of up to 570 kilometers on a single charge. The MG Cyberster boasts a remarkable acceleration capability, achieving 0-100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds. Its electric powertrain generates a peak power of 510 bhp and a maximum torque of 725 Nm.
Tata Motors commands a significant portion of the Indian electric passenger vehicle market, featuring models such as the Curvv EV, Nexon EV, Punch EV, Tiago EV, and Tigor EV. The company is preparing to introduce the Harrier EV, which is anticipated to be the next major electric vehicle from this domestic manufacturer. The concept version of the Harrier EV has already been unveiled, and the prototype of this electric SUV has been observed undergoing road tests on several occasions. It is expected to be launched in India in the first half of 2025, potentially offering a range of approximately 500 kilometers and all-wheel drive technology.
