The Suzuki Jimny 5-door has officially debuted in Japan under the name ‘Jimny Nomade’. This model, produced in India by Maruti Suzuki, was introduced to the Indian market in 2023 and is now being exported to Japan from the company's facility located in Gurugram, Haryana. In Japan, the starting price is set at 26,51,000 Yen, with the upper range reaching 27,50,000 Yen (approximately ₹14.86 lakh to ₹15.41 lakh).
Maruti Suzuki Jimny Exports
India is the global hub for producing the Jimny 5-door and Japan is the latest market to get the model. The Jimny 5-door is exported to nearly 100 countries and is the second most exported model from the automaker in FY2025. The off-roader is also the second made-in-India model to be launched in Japan this year after the Fronx went on sale in August 2024. Suzuki Japan is targeting to sell about 1,200 units of the Jimny Nomad every month. In comparison, the Jimny 5-door averages triple-digit numbers in India.

On this occasion, Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and CEO of Maruti Suzuki India Limited, remarked that the launch of the 'Made in India' Jimny 5-door in Japan exemplifies the high standards of excellence in our manufacturing capabilities. This marks our second model to be exported to Japan in the fiscal year 2024-25, following the Fronx in August 2024. The Jimny ranks as the second most exported vehicle from Maruti Suzuki in this fiscal year. Given its remarkable success in markets such as Mexico, Australia, and South Africa, we are optimistic that it will also appeal to customers in Japan. The export of the Jimny underscores our dedication to the 'Make-in-India for the world' initiative.
Suzuki Jimny Nomad: What's Different?
The latest Suzuki Jimny Nomade will be offered in conjunction with the existing Jimny 3-door model in Japan, which has been available since 2018. It is important to highlight that the Jimny 3-door is classified as a kei car, featuring a 660 cc engine and is referred to as the 'Jimny Standard.' Additionally, a 1.5-litre variant is also offered, known as the 'Jimny Sierra.' The new Jimny Nomade will occupy the highest position within this lineup.

The Suzuki Jimny Nomade shares the same design and mechanical specifications as its Indian counterpart. It is powered by the identical 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine, which can be paired with either a 5-speed manual transmission or an automatic option. Additionally, all variants of the SUV are equipped with the Suzuki AllGrip part-time four-wheel drive system.
Suzuki Jimny Legacy
The Jimny nameplate, which debuted in 1970, has been in existence for more than 50 years. This compact off-road vehicle has gained significant popularity across various markets, achieving sales of over 3.5 million units globally since its introduction in more than 199 countries and regions.
