The speed limit for automobiles and other vehicles on the Yamuna Expressway has been adjusted in anticipation of foggy conditions to mitigate the risk of road accidents. The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), which oversees toll collection on the expressway, has modified the speed limit on the 165-kilometer stretch that links Delhi and Agra in Uttar Pradesh. Additionally, the speed limit on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway has also been lowered. These new speed limits will be in effect until February 15 of the following year.

Road accidents frequently occur on the 165-kilometer Yamuna Expressway and the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway during the winter months, primarily due to dense fog that reduces visibility. In response, YEIDA has implemented various measures to decrease the likelihood of accidents over the next three months on these routes. New signage and fog lights have been installed to enhance visibility, and emergency services, including ambulances, cranes, and fire tenders, have been positioned to address urgent situations. The Noida Traffic Police will also conduct patrols to enforce the speed limits during this period.

New speed limit on Yamuna Expressway, Noida-Greater Noida Expressway

The updated speed regulations are included in an annual initiative aimed at decreasing the incidence of road accidents on the Yamuna Expressway and the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway. The established speed limit for light vehicles on both expressways is set at 100 km/h, while heavy and commercial vehicles are restricted to 60 km/h. The new speed limit for cars has been adjusted to 75 km/h, whereas trucks and buses are required to operate at a maximum speed of 50 km/h.

Traffic fines for speed limit violation on Yamuna Expressway

Vehicles that violate the newly established speed limits on the Yamuna Expressway and the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway will incur substantial traffic fines. The Noida Police will implement speed monitoring systems along these expressways to identify vehicles exceeding the speed limit. For the next three months, cars and motorcycles caught breaching the revised speed limit will face a penalty of ₹2,000, while trucks and buses will be subject to a fine of ₹4,000, which is double the amount for smaller vehicles.
