Hyundai Motor India has disclosed its sales figures for February 2025, reporting a total of 58,727 units sold, which includes both domestic and export volumes. This represents a year-on-year decline of 2.93 percent, down from 60,501 units sold in February 2024. Domestic sales for the month reached 47,727 units, reflecting a decrease of 4.93 percent compared to the 50,201 units sold during the same month last year.

Hyundai's domestic sales face headwinds in February

The company has attributed the decline in domestic sales to geopolitical factors. However, Hyundai remains hopeful that recent tax reforms will stimulate sales in the upcoming months. Additionally, the cumulative sales figures indicate a month-on-month decrease of 10.48 percent, as compared to the 65,603 units sold in January 2025. Over the past three months, sales have significantly declined, with December 2024 witnessing sales of 67,615 units.

Exports show marginal growth

On a more positive note, Hyundai's exports rose to 11,000 units last month, marking a year-on-year increase of 6.80 percent from the 10,300 units exported in February of the previous year. The company continues to maintain its status as one of the leading automobile exporters in India.

In a statement regarding February's sales, Tarun Garg, Whole-time Director and Chief Operating Officer of Hyundai Motor India Limited, remarked, “The 6.8 percent year-on-year growth in export sales for February 2025 indicates a rising global demand for our made-in-India products, showcasing Hyundai’s strong international presence. By enhancing our export capabilities, we aim to solidify HMIL’s role as a pivotal export hub for Hyundai Motor Company. On the domestic front, despite facing geopolitical challenges, we are optimistic that the anticipated tax reforms in the Union Budget 2025, along with improved liquidity, will provide the necessary impetus for market demand.”

In January, Hyundai launched the Creta EV, which is considered a significant addition to its lineup this year. The automaker plans to introduce more new and updated models to further enhance sales in the forthcoming months.
