Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has marked a significant milestone by completing 25 years of vehicle exports, solidifying its position as one of the largest exporters of passenger vehicles in India. Since the commencement of its export operations in 1999, Hyundai has successfully delivered over 3.7 million vehicles manufactured in India to various international markets.
Among the models that have contributed to Hyundai's export success, the Verna and Exter stand out for their impact on the company's global footprint. The VERNA family has recently achieved a remarkable milestone, surpassing 500,000 units in cumulative exports, while the Exter, which was launched in 2024, has quickly gained popularity, especially in the South African market.
Hyundai’s 2024 export performance
In 2024, HMIL identified Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Mexico, Chile, and Peru as its primary export markets. The company successfully exported a total of 158,686 vehicles throughout the year. Unsoo Kim, the Managing Director of HMIL, remarked on this accomplishment, stating, "Hyundai Motor India has played a significant role in the nation's vehicle export sector. Over the last 25 years, we have broadened our presence in various international markets, showcasing India's manufacturing strengths." He further expressed that Hyundai intends to persist in enhancing its export activities in the years ahead.
Growth in global markets
Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has achieved a significant milestone by exceeding 1 million vehicle exports to Africa and has commenced the export of the Exter to South Africa in 2024. The Exter, which is manufactured solely in India, has been added to Hyundai's portfolio in the region, complementing other well-received models.
In addition to the Exter, the Verna continues to perform robustly in international markets, maintaining steady demand across various countries. Both models are integral to Hyundai's export strategy as the company aims to strengthen its foothold in global markets.
